It's obviously given Indy will, but he broke all the records and had 2 SB appearances in Denver.

He was there for like three years.

They have already retired the number of a QB who was there for over a decade, had more SB apperances, and one more SB title than Manning. I think they should let Indy have this one

I don't think they'll retire his number, but he'll likely end up in their Ring of Fame.

If he didn't pull a Favre against Baltimore his first year here, I'd say for sure 100% as a Broncos fan with not a whole lot of perspective

Ya, he did some great things before the Super Bowl season, which is what makes this weird, because the team drug him to the Super Bowl last year. So in a way they should be honoring him specifically for the non-SB years more than the SB year if you think about it.

Elway? Thought he had two super bowl wins?

2(Elway) to 1(Manning) Super Bowls in Denver, not career.

I figure Denver will want to get in on the Manning career accomplishment $$$ and PR in the next 5-10yrs.

It was already retired at Denver.. He got the family of the person who it was retired for blessing to use it.

From Google
"Tripucka ranked as the first quarterback in Denver history and the Broncos retired his number 18 jersey (until it was offered to Peyton Manning)."

They should. They retired Bourque's #77 at the Pepsi Center after he played there for only 1.5 seasons

They're raising banners for the 3 retired numbers they have. The team president I think asked the family if they could use the 18 to honor Peyton at the same time. They said absolutely because Peyton playing for the Broncos as number 18 has brought so much more attention to Tripucka's life and career.

It was Manning's fault they gave up a bomb at the very end?

No, but it was Manning's fault that he threw an interception in overtime that gave the Ravens great field position.
