The Panthers have let Smith walk and probably will allow Williams to go when his next contract is due. Do you believe Cam will stay in Carolina, if so why? Or do you think he goes to someplace else, and why?

I think he leaves Carolina and goes to Tampa since they are going to be coming out of rebuild, Lovie will make sure the offense caters to his skills and they are getting some decent players.

As a Cowboy fan I wished he would come in after Romo, but I know that will not happen.

Unless he totally shits the bed on the field, he will stay in Carolina. They won't let him leave.

How is that? If he decides he wants to move on, there is nothing that Carolina, Richardson, or Rivera can do about it.

I am not sold on Carolina making a commitment to him and they have gotten rid of some good players.

Hopefully he leaves, unless the Carolina Panthers show some type of effort to re-tool the offense. They have two overpaid, overrated running backs, an offensive line in shambles, and a load of mediocre wide receivers (at least they drafted one, but he has high bust potential). Cam Newton will likely be THE offense.

I don't see what Steve Smith or Williams have to do with anything, but I think he stays.

Uh, yeah, there is... It's called the franchise tag.

Also, the team did not let Smith walk. They CUT him.

the only way cam stops being a panther is if he's so bad they don't want him nor get any value for him. And they haven't gotten rid of players as much as they haven't paid old or unworthy players. They have built a young, fierce D, now they need to give the O some attention

He would go to the highest bidder. If team x offers cam 1 more dollar than the panthers, he's going with team x. I sense no loyalty in him.

there won't be any bidding, just contract negotiations with panther's brass. I don't know why everyone assumes he'll get to FA status. When's the last good, young QB to hit the open market when the incumbent team wanted him?!?

They wont Franchise Cam he is not going to get paid 16.9 million by the Panthers.

The tag this year was I think 16.2, so I bumped it up some.

You must REALLY not pay attention to the nfl

Shittier QBs are getting paid much more.

ETA: Kaep - 21mil, Ryan 20.75mil, Flacco 20.1mil, Cutler 18.1mil, Romo 18.0mil, Manning 16.25mil

He's better or at least on par with them.
