Why the hate for KD and athletes in general for moving?

I'll use KD cause he is the most recent example of this. Why does sports fandom have a culture of hating a player for making a career move. Nobody on this board would hesitate to change jobs in order to get more job satisfaction but we hate on athletes for doing it. KD and Bron have received the most hate for it but even in other sports we hate on players for taking the most money which is what anyone would do.

1. KD because of the NBA structure had no choice but to play his first 2 contracts in OKC unless he wanted to risk it in his 5th year on a one year deal.

2. When These guys don't win championships we criticize them for not getting it done and then when they move elsewhere to do it, people claim it's cheap cause they joined a "superteam"

3. Teams have ZERO loyalties to a player regardless of what he did for them. Hakeem was traded away, Shaq,Barkley. Manning and Montana in the NFL. We praise teams for making decisions that help them win but criticize players for it.

I'd love to get your thoughts on this and maybe debate it

KD made the right choice for himself.

However, it fricked with the competitive balance of the NBA (see the playoffs). That's where, personally, it starts and stops. And hate is a strong word

What competitive balance? The Cavs and Warriors were in the finals the 2 years prior to that and even if KD hadn't gone to GS, they would have just re-signed their guys and still won the title again

Last years WCF was an all-timer and the previous at least had 2 entertaining games. Sucks as a Rockets fan that ball bounced the wrong way in games 1 and 2

This years WCF was ruined by Kawhis injury and not KD. If Kawhi doesn't get injured that series goes 6 or 7

How did they get there the previous two years? And how were those finals?

Night and day from a fan's perspective.

Golden State made KD's arse quit. Then, he went and joined them. I hate the situation because it ruined competitive balance. Now, I'd okay with George joining the Cavs because that may restore some semblance balance.

I've been interested in this as well. Most times, players get criticized for leaving a team for more money even if it means they're going some place where they almost certainly can't win anything but the paycheck they're going there for.

KD could have likely done this with other teams...simply headed out of OKC for a paycheck. It's pretty clear he wad done there for whatever reason.

What he did though was nearly the opposite of that, in that he headed some place he thought was the best fit and most likely to win as a team.

Honestly, except for the fact that it created a monster where there was already an incredible basis for calling it the best team in the league, I don't see his move as anything but kind of what you'd WANT from a player that's more interested in being a team guy rather than a selfish, just in it for the check, type of guy.

And as it turned out, KD being there was the biggest reason they ended up winning. He didn't just tag along but lead them to the ring.

The only other option it seems from a fan's perspective is to outlaw free agency entirely and simply force guys to stay put. If we bitch about check chasing AND ring chasing, what else is left? Going to a team for less money AND less chance to win?

After watching the Finals I would say that GS "needed" KD to win.

I think Cleveland wins this series in 4 or 5 games if he isn't there.

Yep. He robbed us of an epic Western Conference playoffs and Finals.

Personally, I'm fine with him the decision.

I agree KD made the right choice for himself and I have no problem with his move I liked it myself. But he didn't frick up the competitive balance because it isn't any.
Since 1980 Lakers , Celtics, bulls, warriors, spurs, rockets, pistons , cavs, heat all have won multiple championships. The mavs and 76ers snuck one in also.

I became a fan of KD he has that IDGAF attitude now and made a move he knew he would get slammed for. Bc it's what he wanted to do. Dude couldn't care less what everybody else thinks he was gonna do what made KD happy. that's a mans man kinda move.

Scruffy is partial to the baseketball system where there are no trades or free agents. You play for the team that signed you for your entire career.

Exactly. Fans don't care about a player beyond his skills, if he was a bad player they would make his life a living hell. Athletes should do what they want and not listen to losers on twitter

KD has spent his time as champion arguing with every fan he can find on twitter. That's how you know that he is insecure in general and definitely about this. You can throw hate on Lebron but he never engaged furious fans that I have seen.

On a lighter note, some ho on twitter from OKC is claiming Durant likes girls to fart in his face. He has been arguing with her too.
