1) PSU lost twice. The teams getting in the playoffs over PSU lost once or less.

2) One of PSU's losses was by 39 points. That's more points than all of the combined margins of losses by the 4 teams getting in over PSU.

3) PSU's other loss was to 8-4 Pittsburgh in an OOC game. Clemson won @ AU, tOSU won @ OU, Bama destroyed USCw, and while Washington's OOC schedule sucked, they just had 1 loss by 13 points to 9-3 USCw.

I really don't think there is a real controversy. Media just wants a controversy for talking points.

The 4 most deserving teams are Bama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Washington.

Penn State, Michigan, Oklahoma, etc might be just as good but they did not take care of business

PSU has won 9 in a row.

And that 9-3 USC team has won 8 in a row.

Back in the day of the polls, you could lose early when teams were finding themselves.

PSU is playing great ball. If they get in good for them, but I think OSU is in for sure as well

So Washington gets in because they played a bitch OOC schedule?

It should be Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Penn State in whatever order.

Everyone with the exception of Alabama has an argument either way. I think and hope Ohio's State gets, but won't have a melt down if they don't. Penn State (congrats of the Big Ten Chanpiaonahip, you deserved it), USC and Michigan are all playing great. For what it's worth I feel it will be this:

1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. Ohio State
4. Washington

Basically, I think Alabama will win it all this year regardless.

No way would they have Washington at number 4. CFP are about making money and selling tickets. Having Washington go cross country to play against Bama is neither compelling or competitive. Ticket sales would be low and tv ratings would be worse. If OSU is in ( they should not be ) , then they would be the number 4 seed. Bama/OSU matchup would be interesting to watch since it would be a rematch of previous CFP game between the 2 teams.

1. Nowhere in the rules does it say you can only have a certain number of losses.
2. You mention the pitt loss but fail to point out that same team beat another team, Clemson, who will be in the playoff. And the other loss was at top 5 Michigan early in the season.

I agree with how you're thinking. Penn State shouldn't be penalized much for two losses in September. They became a much better football team in October and have a strong case for being the best team in the Big 10.

Why couldn't we just keep the BCS rankings? If not that, I would have preferred letting computers determine the rankings. The powers that be could have determined the criteria for the ranking algorithms and let the seasons play out. Computers wouldn't have to justify themselves to the public, and computers would allow for consistency as long as the source code remained unmodified.

The #3 team should be the #3 team. The #4 team should be the #4 team. The committee should not be playing match makers

Wouldn't be surprised though

So frick who Washington played they only only had 1 loss so they're in? That's completely against what they're supposedly putting OSU at 2 for. Gotta look at who they played, therefore PSU should be in over Washington.

If you want to be in contention for the national championship, you shouldn't get blown out.

Based on what I've seen from my own team all year, I can't honestly say we are better than Ohio State. Not even close. I think Michigan was probably a better team all year, but they really sucked it up the past month.

Are we more deserving? Possibly, but that's not all that relevant in this situation. I think things would be much different if Michigan wasn't a factor.

Of course they are playing match makers. Espn is paying a shite load of money. Why do you think the playoffs are not going to be on NYE anymore ( unless it falls on a Saturday like this year)? Espn wants ratings. Compelling and competitive games bring ratings. Bama/UW is neither. The committee will look to have the best matchups they can so they can sell tickets and have high ratings.

Why didn't you mention Ohio state?

I guess we should drop Clemson then.
