Too many R2P2 Offenses, 1st and 15s, and Up the Middle for a Loss of 1s. We had two minute anemia last year too, haven't had a situation for that this year.

Losses to Bama are painful but acceptable. Being shutout by Arkansas is offensive.

Stop telling me not to believe what my eyes clearly see.

That's just not true. This is the worst Miles defense in his tenure. Bad in all 3 phases is why fans are fed up. We've become accustomed to at bare minimum elite ST play.

Okay, but why did Chavis leave? He left (allegedly) because he was tired of his defense carrying a terrible, unimaginative offense that couldn't move the football. Why else would he leave a program like LSU for a guy who was quickly wearing out his welcome like Kevin Sumlin.

The Cameron hire was a head-scratcher when it happened and it's been worse the longer he's there.

This is one of the worst Razorback defenses I've ever seen, yet we very nearly won 9 games because we had a great offense to lean on. We got that offense because we plucked an up-and-coming coach with an innovative system who can develop a quarterback.

No one really knows why Chavis left. It's fair to assume it's due to what's currently going on and he saw the writing on the wall with Miles' extension negotiations. I wouldn't want to be tied to a coach who may only have 2 years left either.

Cameron isn't the problem. Les has had numerous OCs (5) and ran a similar offense. The problem is Miles having his finger on the pulse of the offense and then made a bad hire in Steele and a worse hire in allowing Peveto to run ST.

who do people who know absolutely nothing about sports (football, in this instance) insist on sharing their thoughts and opinions on it?

Just saw your edit and yea we want a guy who who develop QBs as well. That hasn't happened under Miles minus Mett. Cameron really developed him from '12-'13.

That's not true at all, he left because Alleva insisted on the Miles clause in his contract that if Les was no longer the coach, the assistants contracts would be void, Chavis wanted 3 years regardless.

After reading thru this thread, I'll give a crack at some of Ole Owlies points.

The Ned Beaty line is classic and true

This is Les' 11th season at LSU, he's 62. Going into the year, i was thinking he should have 3 years left at best in an ideal world. In the ideal world we make a run in the SEC and playoff either this year or next, and best case we win say in 2016, Les comes back to take a victory lap (and land Dylan Moses) and retires. And if he didn't even get to Atlanta in 15 or 16, then nudge him out/ fire him after next year.

As others have noted we already pay top dollar for assistants. The problem is, if Les stays with a mandate to get a better OC, who do you hire? His recent hires leave a lot to be desired. After getting rid or Crowtown he brings in Kragthorpe (all due respect to his illness) that was not an exciting hire. Same with Cameron, both older, retreads basically. And after years of relying on dominant defense and special teams, who does he hire for those posts? BDP, who was failure at DC for ST? And Kevin Steele, another older retread with a spotty at best record as a DC.

Coach in waiting, no thanks, how would that work anyway? Are you letting Les pick his successor? Does Alleva go out and hire a young upcoming DC or OC as the CIW? Now you are talking about someone with no HC experience since no sitting HC is going to come and wait for a year or 2 before taking over. Always better for an outside hire even if the coach retires on his own.

This seems to be a prevailing problem in a lot of aspects of society these days.

It certainly applies to LSU coaching and general team management, well before 'the decline' began (generally accepted as the Bama mulligan arse whoopin).

I love you LSU boys, you're always alot of fun. Please, please do not fire Les Miles. That guy is a good coach. You will rue the day you do this.
