Why I've always thought the opposition to 18-game NFL sked is dishonest

Earlier this year, GB's first unit was in in the 4th quarter up 40.

Right now, Dallas' first unit is in in the 4th quarter up 35.

If an 18-game schedule were really that "unfair" to the players, no contender's first unit would play a single down once a game is sealed.

Labor (the NFLPA), who was opposed to 18 games, doesn't get to decide when it's time to call off the dogs, management (the head coaches) does.

So you think playing a few minutes of garbage time is equal to two weeks of practice and 120 minutes of extra game time?

there is a difference between pulling your starters, and making them play 2 additional games.

The average player plays 13 minutes a game. There's nothing wrong with 18 games. If you're overworked, that's why there's a 53-man roster.

I like that despite many good points being made that shine a light on the ridiculousness of your OP you stand strong.

That shows strength of character, which you need, seeing as how your brain fails at rational thinking.

Another ballcaster thread where everyone tells him how stupid he is and he defends his stupidity. I'm a fan.

I think the NFL should have 2 preseason games and go to an 18 game schedule. Cut out the extra week before the Super Bowl and give each team two byes spaced out in each half of the season. The season would be the same length as it is now.

I'm right. If the players don't want to play 18 games, fine. If the players don't want to play 18 games because it's "unfair" to them, they're being dishonest. I'm not even subjectively right--I'm mathematically right. If you're tired, sit down. If you're hurt, sit down. If you don't feel like playing, sit down. There's 52 other guys on the team, and that's what they're there for--to replace tired/hurt players.

Any given starter would only need to sit out one series per half, and that would more than mitigate the risk that comes along with the extra snaps played in the two extra games. This isn't rocket science. This isn't even junior high math.

I get it. You don't want to play the extra snaps that come along with two extra games. So don't. You don't have to. There are 53 guys in the locker room. Use them.

Where am I going wrong?

Yes because an extra 2 weeks of practice and games is completely the same thing as finishing a game that is sealed. Yup totally the same.
