No. That's actually a thing. THE MLS doesn't make sense. It really is MLS.

Actually, in American English when you use initialisms a definite article is appropriate.

Isn't it obvious to you that when they say European soccer, they mean the good leagues?

Well I was gonna compare it to a Spurs/Thunder game vs a 76ers/Bucks game but sure
wouldn't work. America is our nation we have an American league. to prefer to watch another countries league is more comparable to preferring to watch another team over your team not just any team

When people say "European soccer", they're talking about 4 leagues, one of which isn't actually even in Europe. There are 28 countries in the EU.

Which of England, Spain, Germany, and Italy isn't on the European continent?

Nah. It's just something people say when they want to sound cool and/or shite on MLS.

No

If someone says they prefer Euro soccer, that means they prefer to watch Man U or Chelsea or Barcelona or Bayern over the L.A. Galaxy

Yes, it's obvious and I'm being obtuse when they say it. First, you have to understand the types of people who say this kind of thing. They usually have just started watching the game in the last few years, know nothing about it, and really only watch it so they can wear their Liverpool jersey to the pub on Saturday mornings with the rest of their hipster friends. These are the "hipster soccer fans" that soccer haters stereotype all soccer fans as.

Level of play in the Premier League is night and day with MLS

Theres a reason the MLS All Stars played 3rd String Man U and would lose

Its like watching a Harvard/Yale football game instead of LSU/Bama

I'm sure there are plenty of countries that prefer the NBA over their professional basketball team.

NBA is HUGE in Europe and China. Much bigger than their own domestic leagues.

To all of that I say, who cares? At least they're watching soccer. Did you go from not knowing soccer to knowing everything the next day. It's a learning process for folks who find the game later in life, like myself. Being a douche and snob isn't helping anything.

I used to be a huge MMA fan. It would be like me getting pissy because people only wanted to come watched Anderson Silva or BJ Penn fight. Who cares? At least they are participating and getting enjoyment out of the sport.

It's a pretty good thing we stormed Normandy because Germany would just take the World Cup trophy home each year.

These people aren't interested in learning about the game. Only in looking cool in their Stevie G shirt while riding their fixie to the pub to drink some PBRs. That's the root of my problem with them.

And you never know, they may develop into big soccer fans.

I hope not everyone is like you because most long-time golfers embraced the "Tiger Effect" and didn't snub those new to the game. And now 15 years later, the tour is the healthiest it's been in a very long time.
