Why did they shove this guy to midnight and took him off of radio? I feel like his talents are being wasted. Unless midnight sportscenter is supposed to be some kind of promotion from what he was doing before.

Pretty sure it was considered a promotion because that Sportscenter is live.

He basically was given his own late night sports talk show.

I love it, personally. And he got a huge raise and complete creative control. It was their way of stopping him from jumping ship with everyone else.

Only thing ESPN has done well in years.

Remember that thread on the debut of the SVP SC and how everyone hated it?

I have it on every night now. It's one of the best shows they have.

I don't like it being just him. I liked the sportscenter with 2 dudes who could play off each others words, and joke around. SVP sportscenter seems awkwardly quiet at times.

I'm sure it's great. SVP is awesome. I'm just not staying up to watch it. Especially when I'm on the east coast and get it at its latest.

That's fair, but he has guests all the damn time.

It's not too bad if you live on the West Coast

I hadn't thought about that. Yeah, it comes on at 9 pm here.

West coast living is strange. Not sure I like the fact a noon central game comes on at 10AM or not.

There is something to be said for an LSU 7PM/8PM game ending at 9PM Pacific and getting to party.

I think the 11:00 Sportscenter is supposed to be some promotion. But I don't see why he is oh so great he gets his own show. Sportscenter used to have much better anchors.

For the old timers here, Larry Biel has been back on the midnight Sportscenter since last week.

Pretty sure it's a big deal because it's the first time ESPN offered up the gig to do SportsCenter solo. At least that's what I remember him saying on the SVP & Russillo show.

As opposed to mid day radio? Is this really a question?

its not great. SVP tries too hard, and really misses Russilo next to him. Stanford Steve doesnt belong on TV, he's super uncomfortable, but my guess is SVP was forceful in getting him on air.

Yeah, I feel like I haven't seen or heard from him in a year other than golf tournaments.

It was definitely a "promotion" for him. They had wanted him to do the late night sportscenter for a while but he kept saying no because he loved doing his radio show. He said they basically offered him something to good to pass up this time around and agreed to let him and Stanford Steve pretty much produce the show
