This is a serious question. I'm not asking this as a way to belittle them. I just don't know much about their team going into the season.

The same reason people still believe Oregon is an elit program that will win the national championship one day.

People are idiots

They looked very efficient and capable against a pretty good LSU team.

They were a young team last year, beat an SEC Team in the bowl game. That is all I have really...

They have Texas, USC, Clemson, Stanford on their schedule for next season

Serious answer: They do have boatloads of talent, that's undeniable. But the main reason is the Their Time Has To Come Eventually, Why Not This Year? syndrome. Making it to the BCSNCG revived that outlook hardcore. And, as I said, they have plenty of talent and a coach that doesn't shoot his toes off when playing with a Nerf gun, so it's a relatively safe prediction that nobody is going to hold them accountable for after the play-offs.

I would like to meet these people that are picking Notre Dame to make the playoff next year.

These are people at whom I would like to point and laugh.

We have almost all our starters returning. Golson was bad last year and isn't coming back. Not too hard of a schedule. People forget that before our insane rash of injuries we were undefeated and almost beat Florida State at Florida State.

We'll be good this year. Not sure if playoff good but we'll be in the mix.
