Why has David Price become "mediocre" in past couple years?

Is it a mechanics change? He seems to be not driving as much as usual.
Injuries?
Age?
Ballpark?

He was decent last year and he dealt with the injuries this year
But still, not what the sox were hoping for. Pitchers are fickle players

His mechanics just seem different and he's not driving through.

Really can't say since I haven't seen a single one of starts for boston

Probably that stupid sports center commercial he was in when he said dah dah dah dah dah dah or whatever their jingle is

If he's currently mediocre, I'd love to see your definition of below average. His peripherals have been good, he's been unlucky as all hell in his time in Boston. That being said, he's been a slight disappointment with that contract, and it doesn't help he's basically declared war on the local media.

Well this was poor timing. Just went 8 innings of shutout ball. Gave up 7 hits and struck out 8

He looked good tonight. His velocity was back. But he looks like he has changed his mechanics though.

Fenway Park is a nightmare to pitch at for left-handed pitchers due to the Green Monster. The only lefties I can ever remember doing well there is Chris Sale (very limited sample size) and Jon Lester. I've always thought Lefty Grove had a very strong case for being the greatest pitcher who ever lived just based on the fact that he won four ERA titles as a left-handed pitcher for the Red Sox. Grove pitched in the worst possible ballpark for left-handed pitchers and he was still able to dominate.
