Why don't the best U.S players play in the WBC?

Nearly all the top latin stars play for their countries, young or old, huge contract in hand or not. How come guys like Kershaw, Trout, Kris Bryant, Scherzer don't play in the WBC?

Too busy slaying poontag at spring training

Because America is turning into a country of pussies.

Because playing baseball in the Dominican is literally everything. It just is a different mindset

Because the WBC is trash.

I agree with this. However, I feel like our players should have this mindset. Take some pride in representing your country. IDGAF if you make 20 mil a year, give back to the people and country that allow you to play the game you love while making millions.

Have you met ball players? That's too difficult of a concept for them. They think "entitled" as much as anyone. :(

Lots of great players are doing it. I totally understand a pitcher not taking the risk.
We have Arenado, Goldschmidt, Stanton, Posey, etc. there are studs. We are Trout and Harper away from a pretty optimal lineup.

If you are a pitcher without a contract, I can understand the fear but guys like Kershaw and Scherzer have $200 million deals in hand

I take it you haven't watched a single game this tournament.

I don't want Kershaw throwing a single pitch in that meaningless garbage.

Position players, especially star position players, have no excuse. Pitchers I can see why they wouldn't play. I almost think at the end of the season would be a better time for the tournament

Whats the difference between pitching in the WBC and pitching in ST? From an injury standpoint.

I can understand pitchers not wanting to, but if people like trout and harper are scared of injury, they are just pussies.

King Felix has a nice contract also doesn't stop him from pitching for Venezuela

Expecting players to play and whining when they don't seems way more entitled than them making a personal decision not to play.

Baseball players have guaranteed contracts. They get paid whether they are injured or not

Because, like Daniel Murphy, Leyland would probably find some excuse to keep them on the bench.
