Do the postseasons of those sports directly coincide with end of term exams?

I believe the stated reason is that they don't want the season to extend into the final exam period.

Apparently the Ivy League sponsors its own Lacrosse tournament that starts in May every year - just about when Spring final exams are getting under way.

Elitism, they think they and their tradition is better then competing against the FCS. All of their other sports compete in the postseason play, Ivy fooball is stuck in the 1930s. I'm sure the teams would love to compete if their admin would let them.

There's no money in it at that level. Basketball - there is money...other sports doesn't require spending a lot of money to go post-season.
Football is a big enterprise...unless they can recoup money like basketball, they aren't going to to do it. They are cheap.
They do it for B-ball for the $ and reward of worldwide exposure...
But, who gives a crap about lower-level football playoffs?
....and the other sports is like H.S. shite...
And plus, they don't want to go outside their conference and lower themselves...they are Ivy...why should we play these peons?

Couldn't you say the same about every FCS school? Somehow they compete in the playoffs and still take final exams.

Their answer is simply to redefine what is important, and for them that means "elite" sports like rowing, tennis, and lacrosse. So they will invest in those sports, and compete in those sports, because those sports match the image of the Ivies. They will not invest or compete in football because doing so would be to admit that they are playing the same game as Alabama, USC, Texas, Michigan, or Notre Dame.
