Why doesn't DeAndre Jordan try underhand FT's?

I know he thinks he may get clowned by his peers.....but he pretty much looks like a clown now. LINK

If ever there was someone to bring this back, it would be him. Doc Rivers has to be going crazy figuring out how to keep him in close games.

the fact he put on a wig and a dress and plays a woman in a commercial leads me to believe he probably doesn't care about getting clowned on.

Why go through all the pre-shot theatrics? It makes it worse.

I agree. Was just reading an article about Chinanu Onuaku at Louisville who went from a 46.7% FT shooter to a 59.6% FT shooter by employing the underhand method. While still not great, that is massive improvement. Think about the impact it would have if Jordan could suddenly hit 60% of his FTs.

There are very few times where I watch a professional athlete do something where I go "wow I could do better than that." This is one of those few times

I've heard a bunch of people suggest it for him. He just can't shoot, probably never had too growing up. Just dominated everybody by his size and athlethism and coaches didn't care that he missed FTs.

I feel like you could easily fix your free throw shooting by simply doing it for hours upon hours every week.

Makes no sense that anyone in the NBA is THAT bad at free throws.

I wonder if he misses them in practice? Like is it a mental issue ofnhaving all the pressure on him.

He obviously doesn't put in the work in his free time to be good at it.

Underhand free throws are even harder. Dont know why people think they're so easy. If they were easier, people would shoot them that way.

You don't think they practice it "hours upon hours every week"?

It does make sense... Have you ever seen how big some of their hands are? They say it's like us shooting/dribbling a tennis ball.

Nah underhand shots are like an anchored putting stroke... pendulum approach eliminates side to side variation. Plus added backspin helps the ball go down easier.

DJ has never tried this in a game.
