Both top players in their sports they both showboat and talk shite to the other team. But for some reason people love them some Bryce and hate them Cam. Why?

Probably the same reason a lot of people defended Michael Vick - because he was on their team.

Daw. Upset that people are mean to sweet little Cammie Cam? It's nice that you look out for him. Fambly.

Do you think Bryce Harper would sit there and cry and pout like a little bitch after he loses the world series, or do you think he'd man up and give a respectable interview? Also, do you see Harper celebrate after every single base hit? Does he start running around like a frickin retard pointing to his chest as if he's Superman after every homerun? Nope, he acts like he's been there before. You can be firey, have some swagger and even a little showmanship to your game as long as you balance it out with some humility and respect. Cam Newton doesnt have a humble bone in his body. Also, as if anyone really has to ask this, Cam Newton will always be hated for taking that huge sum of money for going to Auburn. I like his game alot, he's an awesome player, but he is possibly the most punchable player in all of sports.

People don't give Newton crap for talking shite.

Talking shite has historically been a big part of baseball.

Not sure if I can agree with that. Newton is pretty unlikable as a rule because he doesn't play humble.

Haper made an arse of himself today for sure IMO tho - the pitch that set him off really appeared to be good and his follow ups of first yelling "frick you" at the ump and then suggesting to the reporters that if he were fined perhaps the ump would be as well... Really? That seemed like prime time brat material as first glance.

Can someone explain mitigating circumstances for me to be less harsh RE: Harper today? I'm not seeing it from the highlights.

Showboating and talking shite are totally different things. Michael Jordan was a notorious shite talker and he was universally loved. No one likes a showboater.

Yeah, Jordan seemed to operate on a different set of rules. Of course so did Magic and Bird - people used to just deny those two talked trash at all and Bird was a legendary trash talker.

Interesting to notice but harder to compare in different sports. In basketball you wear almost no protective gear, in football your face can be mostly concealed. Perhaps part of it is the obstruction of the face?

I think it's expected in basketball and baseball. Not so much in football. There were always different rules you went by playing football.

WR's and CB's are always on each other but it's difficult to see because of facial obstruction. But yeah, we do treat athletes of different sports much different.
