That and he is too talented to just keep as your RB3. Like there could have sat in him in case of injury and never played him like most 3rd RBs but that probably wasn't what they promised him when he signed

Peterson can't catch or pass protect. That's why he wasn't used much.

They signed AP before they drafted Kamara. It's really hard to play 3 RBs. I think Peterson will do well in AZ

Not a good fit for offense. Payton hates a one feature back. Prefers multiple backs.

Wrong type of back for our offense. Marginal pass blocker, not as good a pass catcher as our other 2 backs, really needs more carries to get into his rhythm, typically. The other 2 backs compliment our offensive scheme better, in a nutshell.
The trade was a win win and I think everybody ends up happier.
