Nothing screams strategy like walking the 8 hole hitter to get to the pitcher's spot with a runner on 3rd and 2 outs in the 9th. Could they make it any more anti-climatic?

You know how I know you don't watch much NL baseball?

When he made the deal to move the Astros to the AL so the sale to the new owner would go thru, will always be a thorn in my side. Instead of Colorado or Arizona moving to the AL West, which would obviously be more prudent, he moves Houston. I'd bitch slap him if I ever meet him on the street.

Great statement. I never understood why he did this.

People that tout the NL rules with no DH always claim that is uses more strategy, but they couldnt be farther from the reality. After last night's BAL-MIL game, I just wanted to revisit this because holy shite, it actually kinda happened like that. Except Mil pinch hits WITH A PITCHER and wins the game when said pitcher smashes a double.

In the last 3 years, Selig has become my favorite commissioner out of the current bunch. Silver has a chance but his mishandling of the Sterling situation keeps Bud #1. That just shows how bad they are.

Every team would always pinch hit in that situation. Dumb hypothetical

Should have moved the Nats if they wanted each league to have 15 teams (which was a dumb idea in itself). Washington has a long tradition as an AL city and the Nats hadn't built up any kind of tradition.

Or the Marlins so the Cubs can sweep them next year.

Stern is the one who mishandled Sterling, not Silver.

I take it you didn't see the game I was referencing. I called it a dumb hypothetical as well. Then the very same night it almost played out exactly like his dumb hypothetical. Milwaukee was out of position players, so with 2 outs and nobody on in the 10th, Baltimore walks the guy batting in front of the pitcher. Instead of letting a reliever swing the bat, they pinch hit with Gallardo (another pitcher) and he wins the game with a double to the gap.

It was, however, significantly less anticlimactic than he had invisioned in his hypothetical.

Houstons been in the NL longer than the Rockies and Diamondbacks combined. Selig has never liked the Stros, and Milwaukie should have never been aloud in the NL to begin with.

The DH is a good rule.

Through the 70s, MLB wanted a strong commissioner in order to depress labor costs. Once that door was open and they could no longer keep them artificially low, they had no use for strong commissioners, and went the weak route.
NFL wants a strong commissioner, with every team kept in line and no team gaining an intrinsic advantage.

Goodell says hi!

I really like interleague play. I'm anti-DH. I think the game was meant to me played 9 vs 9. But I'm fine with the AL having a DH as long as they don't make the NL do it.

My big complaint is the All-Star game. So you want the All-Star game to count? That's fine. But you still have idiot fans voting players in for a game that counts. And they vote a billion times for bad players. So you end up without the best players from each league playing against each other for a game that matters. It should be about the best players, not a popularity contest. The managers and players should vote for the All-Star game if you want it to count. Otherwise, if the fans must vote, make it an exhibition game again like it used to be.
