I doubt it was a dumb decision, I am sure that it was well calculated. ESPN shows the NCG for football on EPSN, and has for several years now.

Same reason the CFB Playoff is on ESPN?

While yes, OTA networks offer more viewers. The difference for the demographic that wants to watch these events is minimal based on who has cable (or access to it) and who doesn't.

Who'd a thunk it watching the Braves in August circa 1978 in front of 6K playing San Diego for last in the division again?

Well anyone who would want to watch it has it on their basic cable package. I would prefer it be on cbs but the times are changing. Pretty soon you will have to pay to watch the super bowl.

I doubt that. It's worth way more the networks.

Uhh, no, no you won't.

ETA: Unless you're saying it won't be on one of the over-the-air channels and you'' need basic cable to watch it, in which case I still disagree.

CBS went partially in on the NCAA tournament to save money for the upcoming NFL TV contract bid

After Kentucky lost, they figured why bother. No one will be watching anyway.

I think the joint venture is mostly a win. Although the games probably go a little late the opening Sunday, we get to see every minute of every game, whereas CBS stacked them up much more and you had to have MMOD to see everything. Chuck and Kenny were terrible last year, but got better this year. The only thing I don't like is some of the TV crews. Nantz and Raftery would be fine alone, do we really need G Hill in there? I guess they need a TNT rep on the game. Steve Smith seems like a great dude, but having him alone with a play by play guy for a regional was an awful decision. I did love the Wisconsin team stream for the semis last year.
