1. Ryan Zimmerman
2. Paul Goldschmidt

Why would it be any other way?

Here's how the voting currently stands....

Yet here’s the latest update from MLB.com on first base voting:

1. Ryan Zimmerman, Nationals: 1,404,251
2. Anthony Rizzo, Cubs: 1,247,219
3. Paul Goldschmidt, D-backs: 828,361
4. Freddie Freeman, Braves: 637,030
5. Joey Votto, Reds: 517,833

Wouldn't it be a crime if Rizzo got in over Goldschmidt? Looks like thats exactly what is going to happen. Maybe I'm missing something that Rizzo is doing.

Votes only count towards starters. Reserve choices are made by the manager.

No. Rizzo is playing all-star level baseball. Goldy has been better but it wouldn't be the worst snub ever.

Goldy. He hits for power, he steals bases, he walks. Hard to convince me he's not the NL's top 1B.

A shame Freeman got hurt. He was lapping the field.

Still 3rd in WAR among ML 1B despite playing his last game in mid May.

It sucks that Votto won't make it, but Zimmerman and Goldschmidt deserve it more though. Throw in Freeman too if he wasn't hurt most of the year.

Can you make an argument?

Goldschmidt should be the starting 1B while Zimmerman should be the starting DH.

Cubs fans are voting their asses off. Other first basemen are more deserving. Hell, I would give Mark Reynolds the nod over Rizzo.

This is what it comes down to IMO. Cubs fans are spread far and wide...and then you have to include the latest bandwagon fans.

And the fact that Rizzo is statistically the best lead off hitter to ever play the game.

You don't watch baseball, do you

Not the Cubs.

Just looked it up. Rizzo has been killing it in the lead off spot for 7 games and you expect that to be common knowledge? You don't watch baseball if you don't know that?

A simple explanation would have sufficed but you decided to be a douche.

NL 1B is stacked-- Goldy, Votto, Thames, Rizzo, Zimmerman, Freeman, etc.

But I think Goldy is the clear cut starter.

It would have been Freeman if he stayed healthy.
