Players shouldn't get paid for many reasons, mostly because of WHO will pay for it and if football players are paid, why not other sports athletes too? Players should be able to use their own names , jerseys, and sign deals for endorsements because if they aren't making the money from it, then the schools are.

Right on right on right on my friend.

They'll call you insensitive, envious, and possibly racist. But paying collegiate athletes is bullshite, and so is the current system.

Everybody who advocates paying players, talks about football and only football. When in reality if you institute an approved pay for play system, its going to have to be instituted for EVERY organized athletic team.

This is the point that is being missed the most in the whole discussion of pay for play. How long do you think the women's dive team is gonna sit around and not be paid? Are they gonna be paid the same as football players? Why not? It's a slippery slope.

Do people want the state to fund this?

No. The $$ comes from the absurd salaries that coaches, athletic departments, conference commissioners have.

Those guys are the ones getting the TV money. Take a cut out of their salaries and give it to players.

This isn't for every school. There will be a smaller D1 or whatever dumb name they want within several years that will pay players.
