but who the hell cares? this story is so much more fun than how he compares to GOAT. it's a prodigal son. the hopes of one of the most woe-begotten sports towns in america. a superstar with a thrown together group of scrappers and an injured young gun. the most tv ready team in america going against america's biggest sports star.

enjoy this finals. lebron's team might get blown the frick out. but some of these arguments are patently ridiculous. we're watching an all time great player go against an all time great team (and burgeoning all time great player/ already all time great shooter). it's old nba model vs the new nba model.

i think Lebron's one of the finest blends of sheer basketball ever. he's a hybrid michael/magic with the defensive prowress of pippen. he sees the court like Bird. he's been the single most fascinating basketball player to watch for over a decade now, and he's built a ridiculous resume. all pros, MVPs, taking overmatched teams to finals. he's been the best player in basketball clearly for 5 years and maybe longer. he left. came back. we have literally watched him fail, win, grow from a high schooler to a young man and father. and now he's taking this injury ridden cleveland team up against a western juggernaut. who knows how many more chances he'll have after this. but for frick's sake. can we stop framing this argument as whether or not he's the GOAT?! he could retire right now and he'd be top 10 all time. but does everything have to be weighed right now?

I concur with all of this.

That's how cookie crumbles when you aren't playing in a pansy arse conference. 6 bitch. 6. Not one, Not two, Not three, Not four, Not five, SIX. 0 LOSSES.

And let me remind you. Bulls never won shite before michael, so all this lebron's a goat cause cleveland never won before, he still ain't doing shite michael didn't do already.

just further supports he has always played in an inferior conference and the GOAT didn't rise to the level needed to win.

i mean he did leave a group of injured players, timofey mozgov, and the knicks castoffs to the finals

how high do you expect him to rise? did jordan have to rise as high when he was on the bulls?

David Lee averaged 18/9 last year. One of 7 players to do so.

Vince Carter is 38. Lee is 32.

can you stop? The whole point of this thread is that this series is going to be fricking awesome WITHOUT all that bullshite.

By the way I'd like to point out that Jordan lost plenty. He lost to the Pistons and then later to the Magic AFTER he came back. It's strange how those don't count.

Is Tim Duncan a better player than Michael because he has five titles but is still playing at an all NBA level at 38 with winning teams whereas Michael's Wizards were 37-45 at the same age? It's fricking different. So STFU

You put lebron and a capped GOAT in a sentence and you thought this was going to go any other direction. Stupid you.

They count, just not NBA Finals losses. And that Pistons team is probably a better team than anyone lebron ever beat in the east.

so are you just avoiding answering?

and i'm not here to actually compare MJ and LBJ. i'm here to get a consistent, logical, and rational method of comparison

you have offered nothing so far except stating jordan's accomplishments as the only comparison without any nuance or clarification

Besides that ... if the regular season meant anything ... then how in the heck did the Hawks just get swept and embarassed by the friggin' Cavaliers?

Injuries... I know the Cavs were also banged up, but clearly the Hawks were not the same team we saw in the regular season.

the only reason tim duncan doesn't have 6 is because of a balls random bounce right to ray allen as time expired

that is worthy of being held against duncan?

I answer everything. Lebron is a loser, will have 4 nba final losses on his resume. Its cool if you choose to conveniently not let that affect your decision making. But you come here and want to do a tango fox trot with a bunch of tangent questions dodging the truth that lebron has let fear make his lifetime decisions for him, is afraid of expectations and is a bitch. He's a finals loser, quit on his team previously with cleveland. And people running around here like he should receive a nobel peace prize for being a decent father. Gesus H C.

Michael would have 8 right now, you know. You think you can honestly use that type of slippery slope argument with me at this moment in time son? Not today Not ever.

Have a mother fricking up vote my man.

I loved that Lebron went back to Cleveland and really started watching a lot of Cavs games at the beginning of the year, and I was not a Lebron fan while he was in Miami.

Now they can't just see the story that's right in front of them. I can't stand listening to this all time great bullshite. How about cover this season?

I appreciate Lebron's talent but I have never been able to stomach watching him too much. All of the fake arse falling, fake drama, and crying for fouls just bothers me. Something about a man with his size and strength flailing around like a rag doll just irritates the hell out of me.
