Now I've seen the Chrissy Teigen hate and I'm like "meh" but come on.

Has A-Rod officially retired? If not... then he wins.

If so...

Ichiro worldwide

Probably between Ichiro, Pujols, Harper, and Bryant in the states.

Trout, Kershaw, possibly Pedroia in the running because he's in Boston.

Outside chance at Buster Posey because he's done several commercials.

I don't think Trout's face is nearly as recognizable as Pujols or Harper's

Yea just about everyone could pick out Harper and they are trying to be cool if they say otherwise

Honestly, line up 10 athletic white guys with his similar build, and I can't tell you which one he is.

#4?

I wanted to say #3, but the terrible tattoo made me say no.

Pujols. I don't think it's that close. Maybe Kershaw.

Trout is clearly the best player, but they've done a piss poor job marketing him, and I don't think he's a recognizable face. Hell, I think Andrew McCutchen might have a higher Q rating.

Actually, #4 looks like a buff Stuart Holden.

Yeah Pujols, Harper, or Kershaw are the ones that immediately come to mind.

If the Astros were to play the Yankees in the ALCS and then the Cubs in the World Series (aka maximum ratings), I could see Altuve being pretty recognizable solely because of his height

ETA: could prob say the same thing about Bartolo if he ever played in a bunch of World Series haha

I thought your new picture of Harper was Olivier Giroud.

The answer to the question is what your wife would say.
My wife could pick Lebron/Durant/Westbrook/Curry/AD/Harden and a bunch of other NBA players out. If you showed her a picture of a bunch of them, she could name them.
She could do the same with a bunch of NFL QB's.

A baseball player, I would guess Verlander, b/c of Upton, and now maybe Kris Bryant b/c he did something that caught womens attention on facebook a while back. She has no idea who Trout or Harper are. The only person she would have known from the last 10 years in baseball would have been Jeter. Yeah she's heard of Pujols and Papi, but she couldn't pick them out of a lineup.

I would say Harper, but Ichiro is a good answer.

It is crazy that former triple crown winner and future first ballot hall of famer Miguel Cabrera doesn't even get a mention.

but I would imagine the most recognizable name would be Pujols

This opinion dated you quite a bit. not to say he's not a great player, but he's not the first name I think the majority of fans would pick. There are way too many young stars now. The last "highlight" I can think of involving Pujols is the video going around on Facebook of Machado hosing him from deep down the third base line. Pujols wasn't moving too quick haha.

I think if there was poll, you would see a big variety in types of players. Baseball differs from football and basketball where the star players are recognized by both offense AND defense. Pitchers are obviously the outlier here. Except for Bartolo . Basketball can still have some defensive highlights (Lebron's from behind blocks against the backboard), but it's still heavy offense.

Here is my list of active players by position I think of first:

Pitcher: K-shaw
Catcher: Posey
First: Goldschmidt
Second: Cano
Third: Bryant
Short Stop: Lindor
Outfiders: Harper, Betts, Trout
DH: Encarnación

I'm not saying those are the BEST players, just the ones I think of first.

Out of all time though, I'll always pick the GOAT: Ken Griffey Jr. You could probably put together the best highlight reel of all time using both his offense and defensive skills.
