I don't think people are saying that he's the second best player in the NBA, it's his play this season (top 10 player so far), with the addition of him only being 20 with a ton of potential. Hell, even Steve Kerr said that Davis could be the best player in the NBA in 5 years.
I agree with that. The op was phrased in a way that seemed like he was considering AD the second best option in the league the right now. That is why I laughed at the op.

Well there is no denying that Davis is the best young talent in the game...but I also get the sense that opposing players aren't necessarily bringing their A game when they play the Pelicans. Think about it, one night you're playing Howard and Harden on national TV, the next you're playing in front of a 40% filled arena vs the Pelicans. It's only natural that you would be more "up" for one of those games than the next.

Everybody that follows the NBA knows who Paul George and Curry are. Regardless what team they are a fan of. They are bonafide stars in the league now.

Drummond is going to be a stud. No doubt. Very underrated player.

And there are a lot of Lillard type players in the NBA. And im a Lillard fan too. While hes really good, I wouldnt consider her a special player.

I think what that poster was saying is when you see him play, with his size, athleticism, skills, and overall game, on the court it just wows you. Davis is a special player.

George and Curry yeah. The other two...nah.

It hasn't been mentioned much that Davis is also shooting 85% from the line. 85%.

Dude is so damn efficient its ridiculous.

I agree

I just think your causal NBA fan isnt aware of how unique of a talent AD is, and can be... That will come with winning, and with winning comes exposure (see the jump in popularity George has made in the past calendar year)

A lot of 'casual' basketball fans barely even knew who either of them were before the playoffs last year.

Well the Pacers were still a playoff team before George became a star. He just was really improved 2 years ago, and last year he made that jump into elite players in the NBA. Im a huge Paul George fan haha. Call me crazy, but I would take him over KD as a SG/SF.

Wut.

Lillard is the catalyst of a 10-2 team.

Drummond is having a very solid season.

Meh... I wouldnt call him the catalyst of the Blazers. Hes a PG that is shooting below 40% from the field and only averages 6 assists. Volume shooting PG.

IMO the catalyst of that team is Batum. Hes the most important player to that team. Doesnt need to shoot that much to be effective scorer, averages 6 rebs and 5 assists a game, and is a big time defender. And the rock of that team is Aldridge.

And im a huge Lillard fan too. I just want to see him become more efficient. If he could be able to shoot 3-4 less shots a game and still score around 18pts and get his assists up to 8 a game he would be a lot better, and so would the Blazers.

I wanted Lillard so bad in that draft. Instead we got Austin Rivers.

But yeah he's a good player but he's also almost 4 years older than Davis and there are a lot of PGs like him the league. He's not anything unique or special. Just a good PG, for sure.

Drummond has the potential to be great. But he's still pretty raw, not really good at all on the offensive end, and he's shooting 17% from the FT Line.

17%.

Lillard is a very good player, but does he do anything special to separate him from any of the other top PGs in the league?

Drummond is having a very solid season

Also a very good player, but his ceiling is capped due to his limited offensive ability... He'll be a more consistant DeAndre Jordan IMO

Davis is a package we dont have in the league... an elite shot blocking PF, who can beat his man to the rim, hit a 20' jumper at a high clip, 80%+ FT etc... Hes unique, and I hope the rest of the league starts to notice this, sooner rather than later

Lillard is still very inefficient. Drummond is solid, but I don't think he has the same offensive impact of the others (haven't really watched much of Drummond, that's why I said maybe about him).

And Drummond is playing with Greg Monroe and Josh Smith. Monroe is the guy getting the attention down low. Drummond should be dominating in the 1v1 situations that he lives in.
