I think they should keep the name and change the mascot to a potato.

The name will change when it begins to hurt the team and league economically. One of the main reasons segregation ended in the South and voting rights given was that the old system began to hurt the South economically.

When the name hurts economically it will change.

I bet if Snyder threw these folks a few greenbacks they would quietly go away. In fact, that's what they are probably after, unless they're just that desperate for attention.

Really?

KEEPING that name is so important to you.

Why is that?

Why are a bunch of angry white males pissed off at THE PROSPECT of changing the name if it's not such a big deal (as they claim)?

If the name really doesn't mean anything, then why not just change it?

All that said, I'd change it if I were Snyder. The name is silly in my opinion, and it certainly isn't worth this controversy.

I agree totally. He'd come across as a man of integrity and compassion, and he'd make a shite ton of money off the memorabilia sales from the new name. Win-win all around.

What the right wing zealots don't get is that their bitching louder and angrier about the bitching is sending reasonable people in droves to the other side. People who want to agree with you. But dude, you are whining about this, and you don't even have a dog in this fight. You are telling people that people you don't even know or understand that they shouldn't be offended and frick you if they are. And than you find the anamolies to prove your point--the black Republican, the minorities who aren't offended. The only people who matter are the ones who agree with you and the ones who disagree are whiny pussy Liberals. So stop being a dick.

That's the way it was with Ole Miss. I didn't give a shite about Colonel Reb and the Confederate flags until I saw the ugly vitriolic response of hardcore Ole Miss fans to the controversy. They looked like assholes just trying to rub it in. And I changed my mind.

That's where I am with the Redskins. Obama says something. Bob Costas says something. I don't see a lot of people outside of that rioting in the streets over this. And all these White Conservatives are screaming and bitching and acting like their fricking Civil Rights are being violated.

Screw you guys. I'm on the other side now. Just like with the Tea Party and the government shutdown.

So let me get this straight, when conservatives stand up for what they believe in rather than having a single voice on the opposing side bitching and moaning about trivial bs they're in the wrong and should be villainized?

So this is what drives your voting? Me thinks you vote that way anyway. Maybe you should just boycott voting?

By the way, why do we need laws to keep people from being offended? People with Obamaphones offend me. Teachers Unions strong arming state governments offends me. People who are so weakminded they get pissed off when a rival political group puts forth a different viewpoint offend me.

But I don't drivel on about it, you know..cuz I'm a frickING GROWNUP.

You make me think of my mother in law a retired teacher and dyed in the wool lib who refuses to talk to me about politics cuz I don't drink her Koolaid and I make her explain what she believes and why she votes the way she does and she can't so she just pouts and my wife gets pissed..... although is does liven up Thanksgiving.

No. I find that most political discourse ends with my opponent disparaging my beliefs or ending with some type of reference that I am racist instead of actually debating anything. So I stay away.

it's the methods used

it's similar to gay marriage. i'm not against gays getting married, but i absolutely detest how they've gone about it the past few years. manufactured outrage to start shite just b/c progressives can't stand a homeostasis point annoys me
