NBA is the best as far as determining the best team in the league. Yes, too many teams are allowed in, but most of the fluke teams get knocked out in the first round anyway.
As far as entertainment value it's March Madness.

We already know who the best team is in the NBA... Its one of maybe 4 teams....... BUT in the NHL its ALL wide open..........

Doesn't NBA and NHL have the same format? 8 from each conference all with 7 game series.
And I do think NHL has the most exciting playoffs and I am not a big hockey fan. Nothing better than OT in game 7 for Stanley Cup Finals

I would say the NHL has a lot more parity than the NBA does. You pretty much know who will win the first two rounds of the NBA playoffs, but the NHL playoffs are completely up in the air.

Every league is split by conference. It just happens that the east is really bad right now
