Check again, the BCS has always had a playoff.

It's 2 teams, but it's a playoff.

False.

Are you an NBA fan?

Just curious why you'd want that.

I prefer from a selfish standpoint - more playoff basketball.

But it would be pretty awesome if only the top 4 seeds in each conference made the playoffs.

probably what they should do. there are no upsets to begin with, and there are usually only 4 teams with a shot at the title each year

Yep. And instead of seeing teams fighting for that final 8th spot, which isn't exciting because they always lose in the 1st round, it would be really cool to see those teams out West fighting for that 4th spot down the stretch.

It would make the regular season a little more interesting and meaningful.

precisely, although we'd still see the same teams year in and year out

i hate the money grab scheme, uh, i mean, series format. at most, do best of 3. no chance of upsets with best of 7

only sports that should have a series format are baseball and hockey

I haven't seen how the NCAA Football selection system works.

I think NFL and MLB reward teams in bad divisions
NBA rewards teams in bad conferences considering any team form the 3 seed down in the East wouldn't make the playoffs in the west, and the #1 and #2 Seeds would be 4 and 5/6 seeds in the west.

Colelge basketball everyone loves, but it is blown out of proportion. It is just a lot of basketball. IF you like basketball its great. There are some games that are snoozers. there are teams that absolutely don't belong while some teams get left out.

MLB used to when they had the 7 game ALCS/NLCS and 7 game World Series.

I can live with the 5 game ALDS/NLDS but not the 1 game wildcard. When you occasionally had a game playoff due to a tie that was awesome.

But I still say MLB has the best system. Too many teams in the NBA and NHL make the playoffs and it's the same way with the NFL.

College FB needs to have a 16 team playoff and get rid of the bowl system. It can go from early December to early January for a total of four weeks and games only on Saturday.

Care to back that up. As far as I know an 8 has only beaten a 1 twice, and both of those were best of 5.

Ok, just found some other teams, it's happened 2 times. But an 8 has only beaten 1 5 times total in 30 years. What I was looking at must have been really old.

nfl has the perfect number of teams that get in, and you have to be good to get in. there is also a large degree of parity

those things alone put it over the top of most others

Not really. Over half of full-lineup days would be filled with meaningless games, less attendance, and less discussion. And in that format, Memphis wouldn't even have made the playoffs last year because of a tiebreaker. 16 is more than fair.

Not to mention, Memphis as an 8 seed won their opening round just a few years ago.

NFL is the most entertaining by far.

Of course playoffs with series are better for deciding the true champion. I just like the craziness of win or go home.

I think MLB is ridiculous. You have teams play 162 games, then a best of 5?

What will a best of 5 tell you that 162 didn't. Should be 2 rounds. 7 game series for pennant. 9 game series for WS.
