Just ten years ago? This team had the following head-to-head records against its fellow conference members over a 12 year period:

3-0
10-0
11-1
11-1
8-4
6-3
8-3
12-0
10-0-1
2-0
4-2

Record of 85 wins and only 15 losses from 1990 thru 2001 in their conference games. A winning % of .850 or 85% in their conference games. Who is this team and which conference do they play in?

My guess would be Nebaska of the Big 8/12.

Big 12? No. Big 10? No. Pac-10? No. ACC? No. Big East? No. The answer, of course, is Florida of the SEC.

3-0 vs. Arkansas
10-0 vs. South Carolina
11-1 vs. LSU (oh my gosh)
11-1 vs. Georgia (oh my gosh 2)
8-4 vs. Tennessee
6-3 vs. Alabama
8-3 vs. Auburn
12-0 vs. Kentucky
10-0 vs. Vanderbilt
2-0 vs. 'Ole Miss
4-2 vs. Miss. St. (Are you kidding me? Miss. St. had as many wins against Florida during this period as LSU and Georgia COMBINED?)

Nope, they didn't have MORE wins.

For all of you wanting to dump on the Pac-10 because one team has dominated the past six years, maybe you should look at the recent history of your own conference.

Tennessee won a MNC during that period.

Your position is weak.

Then you should mention that Alabama and Tennessee won National Championships during the span that you just mentioned. You can also mention that Alabama, LSU, and Tennesse won conference championships during the span you mentioned.

3 different teams from the SEC won national titles in the 90's.

The SEC has won the BCS 4 times.

Can you say that about any other conference?

not one team dominated

Thank you. You helped me make my point. Nowhere did I say that Florida wasn't an excellent football team during that time frame. However, based on the logic of many of the posters on this board who want to devalue USC's accomplishments under Pete Carroll because of the conference they play in, we would apply the same logic to Florida's almost complete domination of the SEC under Steve Spurrier.

I wouldn't devalue his accomplishments.

Carroll can't control/help how good his conference opponents are.

He's made USC about as good as it can realistically be.

So what's it like to have such a lonely life, that you have to troll other teams boards and try to prove how good your team is?

You let the abilities of 18-22 year old's effect your life far too much.

If the recent history of the conference excludes the last 6 years, then USC isn't a very good team during the recent history of the PAC-10. Tied for conference championship twice (93 & 95) and that's it for their recent history.

Yes, Florida was good (not to mention LSU was generally pretty bad), but read the rest of the posts, K? When Cal and Oregon (or any two teams in the Pac-10) win a MNC, you have an argument. Right now? Nope.

The time frame referenced was 1990 thru 2001. Not the LAST decade. I'm not disputing the current talent level of the SEC. You are, top-to-bottom, the most talented conference in college football. My point was that even though you had other talented teams during the referenced time frame, you had one team winning 85% of their conference games, about the same % as Pete Carroll has won in the Pac-10. Just because you have one dominant team doesn't necessarily mean the rest of the teams are not talented. And, regarding Alabama and Tenn. winning NC: The Pac-10 had Oregon and Oregon St. finish #2 in the country during this time frame prior to Pete Carroll's arrival @ USC. Hardly indicative of a "weak conference."

Actually, you make "our" point. Name another Pac-1 team that has won a significant BCS game other than USC? Most ranters, WILL give SC there due. They are friggin' good. IMO, the hatred stems from the way the media pimps SC. Pete tying his shoes warrants front page coverage.
The PAC-1 is weak, but with Oregon, and Cal, maybe it is showing some signs of rebirth.

Get over it.

Oh, really? I thought my post was more giving props to Florida and their domination of the SEC during the 90's. For those with reading comprehension problems (hint, hint) I was making the point that just because Florida dominated your conference during this decade doesn't necessarily reflect poorly on the rest of the SEC. And, by the same token, should not in the case of USC and the Pac-10 during this current run. Get over your paranoia. LSU currently can stand on their own accomplishments over the past five years. You shouldn't be so sensitive of discussions involving times prior to that.
