LeBron is literally the pinnacle of this attribute

I was thinking the same thing as I read that. People's hater shades come on in the regular season when they wish to see The King fail. But, after the playoffs they realize again just how incredible he is.

Bird's 8-year run was incredible, but Lebron will end up doing all that twice over. Bird is overrated if he's in a conversation with James.

You should. James is #7 in win shares; Bird is #27.

The Bird/James argument is usually a dishonest one made so by Bird apologists who compare not James' career with Bird's, but James' career vs. a few cherry picked Bird years.

Bird played at a certain level for 8 years and then it was never the same. James has played at that level for 14 straight seasons.

Bird is without question the best all around NBA player of all time. His rebounding and defense are extremely understated.

I LOVED Bird. He was my favorite player in the league, but this is the truth. Bird after the back was merely a great player. Bird before the injury was other worldly.

Something I have mused over before is how Bird would have played in today's game. Sure, Bird would have been great in any era, but I think today's game would have suited him even better. For one thing, he would have shot more 3's - who doesn't today? - and the defensive rules today would help him hide the only liability he had.

ETA: These guys are probably your top 6 players in NBA history. Not a coincidence.
except they aren't Russell and Kareem are easily the most overrated players ever in all sports. Russell played the vast majority of games against much smaller opponents. He did play well against Wilt, but he didn't have to do it game in and game out.

There is no way Russell and Kareem rank higher than Shaq, Wilt, and Duncan.

Definitely behind Harden. No question.

Edit: This was not to be taken seriously.

No, but the guy talks like it's Tom Brady with 5 vs. Dan Marino with 0.

No guarantees Bron Bron gets another ring.

Bird vs Lebron age 30

This graphic is pretty dumb. It's not their cumulative career stats at 30, but their stats in the single season for both at 30- which happened to be one of Birds best seasons and one of Lebrons worst, statistically

You don't think Harden could do what Bird did with those Celtics teams?

What was Bird better at than Harden? Legit question...I'm not insinuating that Harden is better at everything

Bird had one of the best all-around seasons in history in 1985-86 I believe. I ain't lookin' it up, but I remember when I was young how he was all the talk because of what he was doing historically against absolute incredible competition at the time.

Game was different, but it was extremely physical and sometimes downright violent. You had bigger bodies in the paint and high flying forwards. We act like the game is so much different. Really only the guard position is what is so different. The athleticism of the guards in today's game is different, but guys like Moses Malone, Dr. J. Michael Jordan, Dominque Wilkins, Chocolate Thunder, Charles, Hakeem, Robinson, Kareem, Magic, etc.. these guys were some very high quality athletes Bird was going against.

Go watch the video where he tells Portland he wanted to take it easy on em' and shoot left handed.

It is insanely stupid.. Had dudes wanting to fist fight on the floor.
