Where does Coach O's $12 million buyout rank in terms of recent bad contracts/particulars?

I seriously have no idea how anyone in their right mind signed off on this.
If anyone in America deserved to have a shorter leash it would be the guy who no P5 team wanted, the guy who previously failed miserably as a head coach, and the guy who backdoored his way into the job, it's Ed Orgeron.
Look, I hope he somehow surprises us all and ends up being a good head coach. But how in the actual frick does he get that high of a buyout? Isn't the point of a buyout to protect a top tier coach if things don't work out? Also, why in God's name does this guy, with loads of question marks, have a huge leash?
I don't like dogpiling on people, but seriously Alleva might be the worst negotiator I've ever witnessed in recent sports history.

He and F King Alexander are the anchor holding back the LSU football program.

You can't recruit on a contract with no security.

This.
And it's college. Not talking an NFL contract where anything is going against a salary cap.
LSU can eat $12 million easily if needed

So recruits are that interested in coaches' buyouts?

NFL head coach salaries don't count against the cap

I thought they did? Or there was some type of separate coaching cap? Otherwise some team would have 35 position coaches?

The answer to your questions regarding "why?" and "how?" is that geriatric penis looking motherfricking cocksucker joe alleva.

LSU has gotta be one of the worst "what if" schools or sports organizations ever.
That's the main reason it's so frustrating. It'd be one thing if this was Oregon State or something similar. The insane talent will always be there in state.
Just sad.

The whole process is just mind boggling. I went from full of anticipation the day miles was fired to the fricking floor that day in November.

Coach O knows where the bodies are buried, no other explanation.

quote:Not it's not. That's complete ignorance. Even if a buyout matters, it doesn't need to be nearly that much. A couple million would be fine. And no, LSU can't eat $12 million, especially when they owe Leslie a ton of money.
