they would trade trout the winter before if they did not think he was going to resign and they would easily get that offer. they would get that offer in a micro second

Yes and yes. You can get a decent return for Calhoun if he keeps hitting this year. Hope Richards pitches well and stays healthy and deal him.

Define decent
B level guy for Simmons
C level prospect for Heaney
B level guy for Simmons
C level prospect for Heaney

decent as in can bring them useful pieces that they can use in their next group of players to come up beside trout

And start drafting/developing better. Clearly what they are doing in the draft process and in the minors is broken. No team should have a system this bad
This is their biggest problem. The FO tried to put a bandaid on a gunshot wound by drafting low ceiling college prospects in the draft, instead of actually drafting good players.
2016-Matt Thaiss||C||Virginia
2015-Taylor Ward||C||Fresno State
2014-Sean Newcomb||LHP||Hartford
2013-No Pick

2011-CJ Cron||1B||Utah
Cam Bedrosian(2010) is the last player they drafted in the first round that has done anything at the ML level, and he's a reliever.

they seem to have hit with their second rounder in 2015, jahmai jones. what ive read about thaiss seems positive as well
but well see. their system has improved even though, admittingly, it had no where to go but up when people were talking about it being the WOAT last winter

I wouldnt call Jones a hit yet, since he's only played rookie ball, but he does have potential. They really need to hit on that #10 pick this summer.
I actually think the Angels could vie for a wild card spot. Adding Maybin, Espinosa, and Valbuena will help a lot compared to the crap they had playing last year. If Richards and Skaggs are healthy, they could be a descent add to Shoemaker at the top of the rotation, and I like their pen.

In regards to the Mike Trout trade talk, Jonah Keri just finished his trade value rankings, and he had Trout 3rd. Had Bryant 2nd and Seager 1st. Reasoning was one they had an extra year of control at way cheaper prices. Not sure I agree, but it was interesting.

Its too early on Seager. He had an amazing 2016 but 1 season isn't enough of a sample size.
