What would you rather have Jrue Holiday or 2017 lottery pick?

Settle an argument. What's better to help the Pelicans build for the future? Jrue or the potential 1st round pick if they traded him?

Say late lottery pick so The 8th pick. Someone like D'Aaron Fox.

He's projected to go at #10.

Jrue helps us now... a lottery pick you probably have to wait two or three years to develop

Depends on how much money they are planning on paying Jrue.

He's going to be an unrestricted free agent next year. So you're going to have to pay a boatload of cash for him.

Lottery pick, Holiday is a below average PG in today's NBA.

I'd see what you could get for him. Paying him 30 million dollars a year would be foolish, especially with his injury problems

I think it's the opposite.

In a vacuum as you said, it's Jrue, no brainer IMO.

Now throw in what Jrue may command for his yearly salary, that may make it a bit trickier.

Jrue > 8th pick

Jrue at $25M a year <<< 8th pick at $5M a year

I'd take the 1st round pick, that way I would have two top 10 first round picks this year, and trade them both to get Jimmy Butler.

Lottery pick.

Jrue is going to command some serious money.

Lottery pick. There are 6 PGs projected in the top 8. I'd take a chance on one of them over a late 20's injury prone combo guard that is looking for 20M+ a year..

I think there are STAR caliber players in top 8. Would rather take the chance on landing the star.

Get down a little further, give me the sure NBA player. Way I'm looking at it.
