Let us not forget he was a legitimate 2nd round pick.....this is not some bum drafted in the 6th round and made to look good in the Pats system

I'm a Raider fan, so I wouldn't give up anything to replace Derek Carr.

Pretending Carr had a career ending injury, however, I would assume Reggie would stick with Conner Cook. Reggie does not like losing draft picks.

I think Garoppolo would be successful with Cooper and Crabtree on the outside, and I would probably be comfortable with a 3rd round pick.

Nope. Zero quarterbacks who started as backups have ever been good

Why would you trade for a backup?

Because you're the idiot Chicago Bears.

Carson Wentz was great for his first 4 games and then fell off a cliff
Man, what a terrible comparison. Well over half the league would trade a 1st and a 3rd minimum to get Wentz.

I'd trade a first rounder for Jimmy G.

Solid pedigree as a prolific college QB and 2nd rounder. Has spent 3 seasons learning from 2 GOATs in Brady and Belichick, along with a good offensive mind in McDaniels. Small sample size of on field play, but he was great against two solid teams in Arizona and Miami. The "system QB" argument looks kinda silly when you contrast his performance this year with Brissett's. Nice contract so he doesn't hurt you financially before you find out if he can play (Osweiler).

He has flashed the ability to play at a high level in this league. With the premium on competent, young QBs, I think it's worth the risk for a bunch of teams.

Sprain MC joint, would've missed two weeks and been the starter again if Brady weren't already back. Just an unlucky play that got his shoulder slammed into the turf.

they don't always get the trade. hoyer was once the garoppolo of the pats

A 2nd rounder + 4th rounder. He had only 6 quarters of sample size. Carson Wentz was great for his first 4 games and then fell off a cliff

Let me preface this by saying I'm not saying he's worth a top 5 pick, but 1 thing I never understood...even if it's sample size/very very little blah blah blah, he's proven more in the NFL than Wentz or Paxton Lynch did when top 3 picks were used on them, so why is Jimmy G NOT worth just as much as those 2 were pre-draft?

Age is the only thing I can come up with but can't really be the deciding factor IMO...he's 25, right?

If you are a team like Denver (QB away), then I would rather gamble on Romo. If Houston waited a season with Hoyer (who is better than Osweiler), then they could have had a chance at Romo.

That's actually a great question, and I legit can't really answer 1 way or the other.

Romo, even with his risks, is more of a "sure thing." But with Jimmy G, you could be set for 10 years if he's pretty good. That would be a tough call.

See, this logic makes no sense.

I don't like losing draft picks so I won't give up a 2nd rounder for Jimmy G, but i'll go ahead and draft a QB in the 2nd round. Wait, what?
