I caught the tail end of Russillo & Kanell this afternoon. They were discussing the Garoppolo trade with what I believe was Bill Polian. He believes Garoppolo is worth a 2nd & a 4th draft pick. But that the Patriots will likely get high 1st Rd pick for him.

Given his sample size from this season. What would you trade for him?

Also, Polian believes that Buffalo should do everything within reason to keep Tyrod Taylor on the roster.

Why would you trade for a backup? Has this ever worked?

A 2nd rounder + 4th rounder. He had only 6 quarters of sample size. Carson Wentz was great for his first 4 games and then fell off a cliff

If I was the bears, San Fran Cleveland or any team desperate for a QB and you're considering a QB in either of the first two rounds you pull the trigger on Garoppolo for a first if the pats are willing. He's got plenty of potential and has shown he can handle the NFL. I'd take my chances with jimmy over kizer or Watson.

Nothing.

Anyone who follows the Patriots knows how good they are at this game. They draft good qb's they have no intention of playing, coach them up and then trade them for draft picks. Rosters don't build themselves.

Well... that is a great example

I guess there's no harm in throwing a couple of later draft picks if you think Garrapolo is the guy.

I'd be fine with a 2nd and a conditional pick. Would have no issue including the conditional pick considering we know how valuable a legitimate starter is in the current NFL climate, while at the same time you don't want to get Osweiler'd

Gary Cuozzo (born April 26, 1941) is a former professional American football player. An undrafted quarterback from the University of Virginia, Cuozzo played in 10 NFL seasons from 1963 to 1972. He began his NFL career on the Baltimore Colts as a backup to Johnny Unitas. When Unitas was injured in 1965, Cuozzo replaced him until getting sidelined by injury as well.

He was traded to the expansion team New Orleans Saints in 1967, where he was the first starting quarterback in the franchise's history. However, the trade was disastrous for New Orleans, which gave away the first overall pick in the 1967 NFL draft to the Colts, who used it to select Michigan State All-American Bubba Smith, who became an All-Pro and was Baltimore's starting left defensive end in Super Bowl III and V.

It's a funny situation. I don't blame Kansas City for trading for Cassel back in the day. But I do believe that the sports media played a large role in the Ryan Mallet trade nonsense that landed him in Houston. They made a huge deal about him being a franchise QB after a preseason game.

If you are a team like Denver (QB away), then I would rather gamble on Romo. If Houston waited a season with Hoyer (who is better than Osweiler), then they could have had a chance at Romo.

Anyone who follows the Patriots knows that Jimmy is a legit QB unlike the others. Dude is mobile, accurate and has a great work ethic

Not positive but I think Garoppolo would not really affect anyone's salary cap...That alone could make it a good trade for Houston considering what they got now is a dumpster fire in the making.

Patriots would want to secure some sort of equivalent to a 1st round pick, say a 2nd and a 5th with the 5th possibly escalating (to a 4th?) if Garoppolo makes the pro-bowl by year two or some such shite.

If you trade for Garrapollo, you are giving him a big time contract. And likely a first round pick

Bradford just went for 2 1sts and he has enough film to show that he is terrible market is all kinds of fricked up and there's a big market for jimmy

+1 It was a small sample size but he looked like a potential superstar to me. I never once felt like that with someone like Osweiller.

I would rather gamble on him than any of these other QBs coming out this year.

A first round and a conditional pick. If he makes pro bowl before 2019 its a first and a 3rd, if he doesnt a first and a 5th
