I was a fan of NFL Europe's 50 yard field goal is worth 4 points.

He should have been on the bench in your first one - that was obvious targeting - he didn't get into his hit motion until after the ball was thrown. Now he didn't hit him as hard as he could have - but it was obvious targeting.

you can't be serious. He didn't lead with his helmet at all, and didn't even really use his body. He was running to the QB (duh) and pushed him with his arms. With those arms, he pushed the QB in the chest/shoulders. Look at the defenders body alignment as well, he's standing completely erect, he's not even "launching" into the QB. There is no way, no how, that anyone with a functioning brain could think that was worthy of sitting the rest of the fricking game. Also notice in the gif that the ref was grabbing for his flag BEFORE the push even took place.

Whatever the case, that ref was determined to throw a flag. Look when he reaches for it.

He reached for the flag when the QB releases the ball and then drops it when he gets hit. He easily could have pulled up but didn't.

He did pull up. If he didn't, he wouldn't pummeled the QB. He was standing straight up and pushed the QB in the chest. If pushing someone in the chest warrants being sent to the lockerroom, then I don't want to watch football anymore. Also, another player was being blocked to the ground so he had to kinda jump to avoid getting his legs taken out. Aside from comically diving to the side of the QB to avoid ANY contact altogether, he acted completely appropriately.

Extra points shouldn't be automatic. I know they moved them back to the 15 last night and that's ok, but I think I'd go back farther than that. Put them far enough back so that there is maybe a 25% miss rate.

When was the last time somebody used a drop kick, other than when Doug Flutie did it not too long ago?

the last successful one pre-Doug was in 1941

placekicking is more accurate so the DK was er, dropped

I say bring it back

Making the extra points longer is a terrible idea IMO. Do we really want games decided by kickers missing extra points?

Face mask should be off limits for offense and defense, even during a stiff arm.

what's the point of this? Why do you want the field goal kicker to have a major impact on the game?

Couldn't agree more...so silly to keep kicking as a meaningful part of the game. I would change rule so that you are awarded 7 for a touchdown or 6 with a chance for 2 if you elect. To make it more interesting, maybe even create a 3 point extra play to allow teams to come from 9 back with a touchdown.

id be ok with that. I hope the just keep it as it is though. It would be a disgrace for a team to lose a game because they missed a long extra point.

The targeting rule is being changed this year. They can now call just targeting or targeting and some other foul (like roughing the passer). If the call is just targeting and replay overturns it there will be no 15 yard penalty. If it is called targeting and an additional penalty then the 15 yards stands no matter what.

-Face mask needs to be called more on offense. Ball carriers get away with way to much grabbing onto defenders in the name of "stiff arm."

-Offensive PI should include loss of down as well.

I wish the NFL had the same rules when it came to overtime as CFB
