Sorry I'm late to the party. Didn't know how high he was picked until tonight.

Even if he was the best kicker ever though would it really be worth a second round pick?

The Bucs are proving having a good kicker is valuable and it's showing tonight. So technically they were right this entire time

It's only worth it to draft a kicker high if he's fat like my boy Seabass

And yeah if you could guarantee me an Adam Vinatieri, I might spend a 1st rounder

A kicker like Dan Bailey or Justin Tucker is definitely worth a second round pick. The only problem is Aguayo sucks.

The problem is the Bucs could have gotten the same dude a round or two later.

The Pats took Gostkowski in the 4th round, for reference.

I just don't see that much of a difference between Vinateri and a middle of the road kicker. Obviously he's much better but is there enough of a difference to make a difference in your season? Or does it make as much of a difference as another guy you could get in the 2nd?

Cant forget they traded up to do it too. Did they actually think someone was gonna pick him before they did?

As a Bucs fan, that pick was embarrassing when it happened. All my Saints buddies gave me shite immediately, all I could do was shake my head. Now it's just getting comical. This topic is low hanging fruit at work for me

There is absolutely no upside. Even a great kicker will never live up to the hype. No matter how good he is, the GM will never be lauded for the pick when guys like Justin Tucker and Dan Bailey are UDFAs.

Both UDFAs which only makes it an even worse pick.

There's a huge difference between an automatic, reliable kicker and some frick. Trust me, I've watched the Saints trot out awful kickers for years.

7 of the top 8 active kickers in FG % are UDFAs. Could be more, I stopped looking.
