They did.

CNN did the same. You have to get stuff through their app.

They sent a text explaining it.

You had to download their app and they send them as alerts, it's BS

No. You don't. It will send you a push notification if you choose to allow it.

I loved ESPN Text Alerts, though they could get a little over zealous on what they found worthy of text alerts. I much preferred to get them as texts than push notifications from an app.

CSB: I remember I had text alerts set for Braves scoring updates and 2010 World Cup soccer updates when I had an old slide phone before I got an iPhone. I went to my cabin with no cell service for 3-4 days and came back. My phone didn't stop vibrating for 30 minutes. 200+ messages. Less than 10 were from real people.

It didn't help pretty much everyone I regularly talked to was at the cabin for the weekend.

I liked getting them as texts because I could set texts to vibrate. Now I either have to be looking at my phone when a notification comes in OR set it up to play the ESPN theme, neither of which is acceptable. I just turned off notifications cause I never notice them until I get home from work and think to check my cellphone.

Correction: They sent 953 texts explaining it.

To the OP, if you were subscribed to ESPN texts, you got PLENTY of notices. I know I got one just about every day, maybe even more often than that.
