Now i see why you listed the yankees, jealousy is a bitch.

I wouldn't call it jealousy. The two teams aren't even in the same division. I can't stand Yankees fans because they act like they're Alabama when they've won 1 title in 14 seasons.

If Jealousy were the answer, as a Mets fan I'd have to list like 30 other MLB teams

Duke fans from the East Coast who like them because "they play good, fundamental basketball" but get pissed off at Southerners because they're so racist.

I don't understand that. Half the teams would die for two championships in the last 45 years.

Would you rather be a Mets fan whose team is crap most years but when they're good--they're great, or an Angels or Braves fan whose team is above average every year but only got one?

Fans of the Indians, Cubs, Astros, Rangers, White Sox, etc. would trade with you in a heartbeat. And that doesn't even include crap teams like the Padres, Royals, Rockies and so on.

I didn't take the Dale Jr. fanbase seriously for a while there, but he's having a real good year this year. For a while he couldn't be taken seriously because he barely made the chase (or not all) and he wasn't winning shite. But Junior was going to win every week--just ask them.

I feel like Mets fans misery is tied to the fact that they share the city with the Yankees, so in relative terms they appear unsuccessful

Let me explain myself: When I started to become a baseball fan, my dad took me to a Mets game against the cubs. It was 1983. They were pretty good and trending up at that point. The reason my dad took me is that from Connecticut it was 15 minutes closer than Yankee stadium.

Throughout the rest of my childhood to the end of my 20's, they were watchable. Always decent enough....always had a shot at the start of the season, always in the mix in August. Shea was a shithole, but it didn't feel empty.

Then they had to invest their payroll money with Bernie Madoff and don't have a chance at not sucking.

I don't doubt that, but the previous 3 seasons have been unwatchable. The play by play team in NYC is almost asleep by the 6th inning most games. It's the future I'm concerned about. All the teams you mentioned have a future. The Mets?

Case in point: you know that scene in the Titanic where the old couple is holding hands in bed and the ship is going down? That's me and the Mets. Love, fear, and death all in the same thought cloud.

Certainly plays into the equation. And as an Auburn fan that has to share the state with the Tide, I'm sure you certainly understand this.

Other reasons not tied to the Yankees or no hope in the future? Can't get personnel right. Even when they were winning in the 1980's, we had a bunch of fricking criminals. In the 1990's we had Vince Coleman throwing cherry bombs at fans. We signed Bobby Bonilla to like a 50 year contract.

A beer is like $11 at Citi Field, and even when it's like 1/4 empty you still need to wait in line for an inning to get a burger at Shake Shack.

Let me clarify--the ones who are Browns fans now that Johnny Douchebag plays for them but couldn't name three other players on their roster right now.

Heat fans under 30 -- at least some of those above 30 can claim having followed them as an expansion franchise, through the heyday of guys like Rony Seikaly.

Laker fans, Dodger fans, Angels fans....Clipper fans who don't know why Elgin Baylor's association with the franchise is one of the great crimes against the collective basketball memory in modern sports-- heck-- let's just throw all of the LA area teams' fans under the bus. I may give Cubs fans grief, but at least they're loyal.
