The equivalent of a Graduate Assistant on the college level: drawing play cards for scout team, charting plays, making copies, never sleeping, etc.

I always thought it was someone who reviewed their own team's film. They looked for tendencies on their own team like every time they are in formation x with y personel, they run a draw. This prevents opponents from knowing what you are going to do in certain situations.

That sounds like a job that could be crowdsourced. Let fans download a coach's cam view of your game and send in feedback. The QCA could coordinate the feedback from fans, who would love the opportunity to be involved with and help their team.

Plus they could make money off it by hosting classes you pay to attend, in order to qualify for the job and meet the players.

Collect a paycheck for having some kind of connection to whoever is responsible for filling out the staff.

I think that's probably the basis of the name, but like with GA's, it depends on the organization and priorities of the head coach. Whatever he wants done.

I've heard it's a really frustrating job because you have coaching responsibilities, but without the title or money so the players don't respect you even though you're tasked with helping them find weaknesses and improve upon them.

Just part of paying one's dues on the way up the coaching ladder.

That's on point! I wonder what the percentage of guys that have this job are the relative of a head coach's wife or nephew of a General Manager.

The NFL is quite the fraternity when it comes to who you know to get a start.
