not saying no prize money just should be way less. Top flights should get up to the USGA prize limit for AM's. Then stagger down from there.

i knew what you meant, but still the lower flights would be subsidizing the purse, so they are getting less ROI

BREC is more about equality anyway, so it makes more sense for it to be level

first year I played the BR open...

the guy i was riding with on day 2, on 17 tee box, told me he had to make sure he didnt do better than par on the last 2 holes so he didnt get bumped a flight

he said something about, "should have a fat BREC gift card waiting for me"

Good Morning. Don't really post. Just lurk from time to time. But I couldn't disagree with you more. Do you honestly believe people purposely shoot a high number the first day? Come on man.

I had a guy four putt from 15 feet on our 18th hole to avoid getting moved up a flight.

golf is supposed to be a game of integrity. if people deliberately show they don't have it, they should be banned from play or asked to withdraw. you shoot way better on day two you should be listed as scratch

maybe the BREC tournaments should lower their prizes for winning, and do more door prizes

it would be more fair

Yea, hilarious. Considering I was bumped up a flight and still won that one. Wasn't that like 2-3 years ago?? Who are you

If I was sandbagging, I would have made it 9 shots better and not risked getting bumped.

I believe it. I was referring to people shooting higher scores on purpose the first day. To me that defeats the purpose of entering the event. Kind of chicken shite if it does happen day 1

I think something like that happened to me a couple of years at the Open. God forbid someone scratch can't shoot 78 and follow it up with a good round.

I had a putt on the back of 18 at SM to a front pin that broke about 15 feet from right to left, with a ridge in the middle. The first putt was for 67 (I think). I hit the putt and it swings left, but stays on top of the ridge about 6 feet short and right of the hole. I take my time with that one, since it was lighting fast and broke about 3 feet. When the putt horseshoe's and I tap in, the guy we're playing with explodes because I didn't shoot 10 better, but only 9.

Funny thing was, this dude shoot 78 the first day as well, and made a long putt for 71 on 18 to what he believed "win his flight"
