There is some kind of herbicide that will kill Bermuda but not St Aug or Centipede. Tiger something. One of my neighbors has been using it for a couple years

The formula for success is play worse

were you trying to say that the 84 was a sandbag? If so I took that post the wrong way.

Yeah, that's what I meant

I play my game for 2 days, and it's just not enough. You have to get really lucky day 2, or do like the others and "make" your own luck

If I am playing, in my mind a slim chance to win. Otherwise it's a waste.

Obviously I have no hopes in winning the damn thing, I'm just in it for the competition aspect, but it would be nice to finish near the top of a flight for once.

objective of the BR open is to finish top 20 to qualify for the match play. That was always my thought. Usually 75-75 get you into the top 20

Good Morning. Don't really post. Just lurk from time to time. But I couldn't disagree with you more. Do you honestly believe people purposely shoot a high number the first day? Come on man.

I 100%, whole heartedly, without doubt think that people lay off on the first day

they will also lay off on the 2nd day if they are close to improving greater than 10 shots so they don't get bumped

these are the lower flights i mean, not the first 2 or even 3

you are being naive

if so this is why I have been against the winners of lower "flights" receiving the same prize money as the winners of higher flights. Really no reward for playing well

It's the only reason anyone higher than a 3-4 HC is gonna sign up

Why pay prize money for higher flights when you know you have no chance to win it?

Maybe I am. I just think that a decent amateur golfer can just as easily shoot 75 as he can 82. I would think nerves, big numbers, etc. would be cause of higher day 1 scores. But I could be wrong. Good luck to you. Get you a brec card!

not saying no prize money just should be way less. Top flights should get up to the USGA prize limit for AM's. Then stagger down from there.

we had a man shoot 68 gross on his own ball on the first day of the presidents cup. he is listed at a 9 hc. he has not posted a card since januaryy. the are other people who have played with him in the past few weeks/months that have observed low 70s scores. he and his partner waxed the field in our flight. there was a lot of contreversey about it after the round. he was asked to withdraw but didn't. I left early sunday because I didn't want to be a part of the fireworks when they divied up the money for the calucutta.

I'm not saying that someone who improves 8 strokes should automatically be labeled a fraud, but when you see the same names doing it tourney after tourney, and they never shoot worse the second day, you become skeptical

I've seen it multiple times, and have had it admitted to me once.

I believe the championship flight pays higher than the rest...
