Dude was pretty ripped at the end of his career. Add in that he was teammates with Canseco and McGwire.

A reporter asked Henderson if Ken Caminiti’s estimate that 50 percent of Major League players were taking steroids was accurate. His response was, “Well, Rickey’s not one of them, so that’s 49 percent right there.”

good enough answer for me...

You don't have to be ripped necessarily to be on roids it's manily when you combine them with weight training that your body promotes muscle growth like someone exploded.

However just anabolic steroids leads to faster recovery times and increased energy....It's basically what is in a shot when you go to the Dr. to help you recover faster from being sick so you can get back on your feet.

But almost every athelete that does something spectacular these days especially later in their life when most bodies tend to wind down and there's is still going like the Energizer Bunny.

I'm taking it as you and the poster of this thread as knowing nothing about Henderson, y'all are probably young, I think what TT meant was that if you followed Henderson since he was young, he has always been built like he is.

good question - dude was always in good shape but that could be genetics, working out, etc.

anybody remember the story about another great base stealer - Tim Raines? when he was in Montreal he would slide intentionally headfirst so as to not break the cocaine viles in his back pocket?

raines and henderson were the sh*t on the basepaths along with vince coleman in the 80's

who knows. i don't really care either way.

he was always pretty shredded, just added bulk later in his career. Could he have been? sure. But, i have no idea.

i think the jelly curl back in the day made him look skinnier than he really was.

Ah, bullshite. Henderson was clearly on steroids. I'm not holding it against him or saying he isn't one of the game's greats, but you're really naive to believe he played as long and hard as he did without roids.

No doubt. If you can't see that Rickey Henderson was on juice for about 15 years, then you're not very intelligent. I mean, if ANYBODY was on roids, it was Rickey. But I don't care either.
