I've always thought he was a lock but I heard a dude on XM radio say he had about a 25% chance of getting in. I was kind of shocked.

Getting in the HOF as a pitcher is insane. I think his overall resume will get him in but his career and peak WARs really aren't close

6 time AS
1 CY Young
1 MVP

1 time ERA leader
4 time Strike out leader
188 wins
2 time league leader in wins

yeah I would say borderline despite the 2 years of complete dominance he had

The threshold for starting pitchers in today's game is different than in the past decades. The game has changed a lot. Is he HOF? I really don't know.

I guess he could silence everyone if he somehow got to 3000k. He's 34 and needs about 550 to get there.

Will be 35 next year and needs 584, he should get that but at the expense of his ERA and other stats that could hurt him

I've always been a big Verlander fan. I hope he leads Houston to a WS Title.

Roy
9x All-Star
2x CY Young winner
131+ to 124+ ERA vs Verlander
203 career wins

Verlander does have him in strikeouts though

He’s maybe not as good. I take that back. But you’re right about the K’s

It shouldn't matter as much, but I think he REALLY needed that Cy Young last year. Two Cy Youngs along with his MVP would have really separated him. I don't know that he has the stuff still to win another at his age. He's really competitive when he's in the mound, but I'm not sure how long he'll stick around to add to his counting stats. If he pitches 5-6 more healthy years, I think that'll be enough.

There is only one active pitcher who is a HOFer and that's Clayton Kershaw. Every other pitcher including Verlander has a lot of work left to do.

I was just thinking the same thing. Kershaw is HOF worthy. Just incredible whether he gets a WS title or not.

Best ERA since 1900 with at least 1500 IP I believe the stat was listed. Insane shite when he is on.

I don't know man. Kershaw may want to work on those playoff #s - 4-7 and 4.55 era before we crown his arse
