So it didn't help LSU in 2007 to win the CCg??? To get to the NCG???
So you are saying that in the early 90's when the SEC started having a CCG it was for the purpose of helping LSU make the BCS CG in 2007.

ANSWER the question. DID having a ccg help LSU make it to the NCG in 2007???

I have NO problem with RUFF, WE know more than most people on this board, Sometimes he goes in the wrong direction and I have to steer him on the right track!!!

Why is this argument even being made?
1) USC deserves to be ranked in the top 5-6, because they have proven over the past 7-8 years that they are a perennial team that reloads and continues to play at a high caliber.
2) In regards to their schedule, outside of tOSU (who is extremely overrated this season), their opponents rankings are legit and will be a tough road. It may not be the toughest, because the PAC-10 isn't the toughest of conferences, but it still is a solid conference with solid teams.
3) The CCG argument by either side is retarded. First off, the SEC/Big 12/ACC need one to at least have some semblance of a legitimate champion. When you miss playing 3 out of 11 conference teams each year it is necessary. It would not be fair for a crap team like Ole Miss to win the conference without playing UGA or UF. The Big Ten should play one also, since 2 teams are missed by opponents each year.
4) In reality, the PAC-10's set up is just as legitimate as the CCG system, since they in fact play all teams in their conference. It is still not perfect since home/away games alternate annually, but is a reasonable system.
5) A CCG can help as much as it hurts. Citing the one year it worked for a losing team, especially given that everyone was for an LSU/USC match up that year, is a farce. Several teams have lost their legitimate shot at an NC by losing CCG such as in 1999 UTexas (losing to Colorado and letting in a non-participating Nebraska to the title game), UTenn (2001). Auburn 2004 won, but not impressive enough to change pre-season rankings. So it can work both ways.
In the end it is a flawed system, but is what is available to each conference.

Nothing worse than Peej trying to be as anti-homer as possible and in the process sucking USCs cock more than the USC posters on this board.

So how overrated is Texas this season?

Impossible to say who is overrated or who is underrated right now. I do not think Ohio St is overrated at all. What teasm have a strong argument to be above them right now?

Just like you say with ND!! You want OSU rated high and think they are better than they really are just to help USC when they beat them!!
Posted on 8/23/09 at 6:23 pm to dukke v
No, you do not understand at all, which is not the least bit surprising. What I want is irrelevant. Only what is matters. Ohio St certainly does not appear to be overrated at all. If you thinks so then make a case for a few teams ranked below them. As for Notre Dame, IMO they may be a little underrated right now.

That's the best part about some of the people on this board calling teams overrated. They will say Team A is overrated, then you ask who is better and they don't have a reply. It is the same thing that happens when people start bitching about ranked teams then can't come up with someone to take their place.
Posted on 8/23/09 at 6:34 pm to dukke v
That is a compelling case you made Peej.

It is pretty ridiculous. Really you can meke a legitimate case for any of the teams from 4-13 to be in almost any order. Ridiculous to call some overrated or underrated or anything like that at this point.

Outside of Florida, Texas, and Oklahoma being 1-2-3, all of the preseason polls are bullshite. Half of these polls are based off of what a team did last year and the other half or based off of projections of how they will be good at the end of the year thus meaning they = bullshite.

You could include UF, OU. and UT in that assesment as well.
THough if you look at the points It is the consensous top-4 then a drop to #5. The difference from #4 to #5 is almost the same as #5 to #10
