How over played is this. All they talk about is how the course has a different feel than the traditional venues.

The gallery is made up of the same people regardless if it was a public course or a private course. I just don't get how the feel is different.

I would attend no matter what course it was at.

It's because the people in the gallery have played it, which hardly ever happens elsewhere (I do agree it's being overplayed, though, but it's still cool.)

Because it's cool. It's a public course and anyone can play it. I don't think it's being overhyped at all.

It is cool that people get to play it but people can play sawgrass, pebble etc. I just don't understand how it changes the feel of the tournament.

Green's fees at Sawgrass Stadium and Pebble: $325+

Green's fees at Bethpage: $39.00

I'm going to go with Bethpage on this one...

ETA: Bethpage is also publically-owned as opposed to the two you mentioned.

Just wondering, How many people actually get on Bethpage for this price ?

I think its like $60 on the weekends now, but it was definitely around $40 before the Open came the first time.

Any NY State Resident can get on for that price. Everyone else is like $120. Still a bargain, IMO.

That is a great deal. It would be fun to play that course without bankrupting yourself.

I still feel like they are exagerating this peoples course angle a little. They make it sound like the kings and princes have descended from the castle to play with the peasants.
