Can anybody shed any light on them changing the name. Did they really change it for good to UL? I'm confused

I'm confused as to why a school with $100M budget in the SEC is even worried about this. Nothing we do as a program will ever threaten LSU.

I'm not mad if y'all changed, I'm trying to find out if the name change is official now, does the NCAA officially recognize y'all as UL now, because the announcer on tv kept saying Louisiana the whole game.

No, the name of the university hasn't changed. The Sun Belt and ESPN have finally gotten behind our request to brand athletics as Louisiana Ragin Cajuns. This has been a branding initiative since '99. I don't know what caused the change within the Sun Belt office, but it happened once we hired Maggert as our AD and got rid of Scott Farmer.

In reality they are a directional school in south Louisiana that everyone else outside of Lafayette knows as the University of Louisiana-Lafayette

ULM got a new AD that didn't deny the request as the other ADs did since ULL tried to make themselves Louisiana. So for this single year, they'll be Louisiana. Once the paperwork comes up again next year, ULM will deny ULL again and Louisiana will be gone. Massive outrage by ULM alums when they allowed this to happen in the first place.
