I bet you define success in wins and loses and the administration defines it in terms of $$$.
I'm just guessing here, but I would think softball having a season where they go to the WCWS equals either a loss of money, or at best a break even. While football going 6-6 and going to the NOLA Bowl brings in cash.

This was a pain in the arse for a lot of donations under Authement. All donations even ones that were specifically purposed from the donor had to go into the University foundation and then those different entities which were to benefit from the donations would have to request that money which had to be approved by Authement and Co.
Bingo.
Ray Authement and Ray Blanco are the main reason why Cajun athletics was down to bare bones by the early 2000s. Wouldn’t piss on them if they were on fire.

He isn't as big of a saint as he is made out to be and it'll come out that way when this is over. Most players liked coach Stef way better than they ever liked coach Mike mostly bc the way he talked to the players

The fatal flaw in the gender equality argument is that genders are not equal.

No you coach a team and you want that team to be successful. You make demands that our reasonable and fight for your players.
You don't know how frustrating it is to have a university turn a blind eye to your program and let it grow stagnant because it's so focused on sports that aren't near as successful. That's the shite that runs good athletes off. I watched it happen time after time at ULM. If Lotief got suspended for standing up to the admin and fighting for his players then good on him.
Neither you nor I know what he was making demands for. Perhaps they are reasonable, and perhaps he keeps begging for more and more after the administration has already given the softball program much support.
Sure, it looks nice when a lawyer throws out the "gender equity" term. That's what lawyers do, make their clients look all innocent and oppressed.
Like I said, I don't know what went down in the meetings, but what if Loteif keeps demanding more and more even though ULL softball already is getting their lion's share of money from the athletic department? How much money is the softball program pumping back into the athletic department's coffers?

So why did he mention complaints that haven't come yet?
I can assure you without a doubt that players have been interviewed and complaints have been made.

So trying to fund a softball program is playing make believe flagship and trying to be LSU? Ok....

LAFAYETTE, La. -
One day after it was revealed their head coach is on leave, a group of University of Louisiana at Lafayette softball players have legal representation and are accusing the university of violating Title IX.
"...They feel very disrespected and mistreated and unappreciated by the athletic administration," wrote their attorney, L. Clayton Burgess, in a letter sent to the media Thursday afternoon.
"These are very serious issues that not only go to the core of gender equity but also involve discrimination because they are female athletes and even unfair treatment and retaliation by present ULL athletic administrators," Burgess wrote.
Title IX is the federal law that requires educational facilities, such as universities, to refrain from gender-based discrimination against students. It's most notably used by plaintiffs in lawsuits to force universities to provide equitable sports opportunities to female students.
Coach Loteif's attorney tells KATC he was placed on administrative leave after a "passionate conversation about gender equity" with university personnel. Loteif claims he raised concerns about issues like getting the grass cut, making sure students have an athletic trainer at practice, making sure the assistant coaches get paid, and ensuring female athletes get a functional assessment before doing weight training.
A university spokesman declined to comment on the background of Loteif's leave, citing personnel matters.
Wednesday, KATC requested a formal statement of the university's position on Title IX. We were provided with this statement:
"As its Title IX policy states, the University is committed to creating and maintaining a campus environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity. The University of Louisiana at Lafayette complies with the mandate of Title IX and is committed to maintaining an environment of equal opportunity for both genders in all areas of university life."
We've reached out to UL for comment on the news that some softball players now have legal representation. So far we've not heard back.

Genders aren’t even genders anymore. My neighbor’s son is the second string point guard for the LSUS Lady Pilots.

Someone tell me more about Coarch Blanco’s involvement at ULL and what impact he has had over time there. I have always heard of his nickname and that he was heavily involved at ULL. But never knew the origin story of how he got out there and what he doesn’t now.
TIA.
TIA.

Well for one, he and Authement rescued a soon to be fired position coach from LSU and named him head coach in order to help secure votes in the upcoming Governor’s race.
Candidates more qualified than Jerry Baldwin applied. But Authement and Blanco wanted him, despite the Athletic Director wanting one of the other guys.
