he 30 and under crowd in Lafayette is so late 90's. Wife beaters, tommy hilfigure polos and baggy jean shorts. Triple alt faded hair cuts with gelled up bangs and fake tans. I know it's not everybody, but it's enough to notice.
Wait...what? No, that's not even close.

it's so cute how ULL fans like to act like they have a long storied football history. Before Hudspeth got to Lafayette, ULL football was a joke

I'm a member of the board, and like here, I rarely post. A few of the posters make almost every thread impossible to read because of their constant sarcasm and belittling of anyone who has a different opinion. FWIW, I'm from a small town near Lafayette, have never left the area, and some of the nicest people I met in my previous profession are La. Tech alumni and live in Ruston. But I tend to judge people on my interaction with them and not base it on where they reside.

I can assure you this isn't accurate
Hipsters I would agree with. Some meatheads too. Some trash. It depends on the places you go.

North Louisiana is more like Miss/Ark with the Shreveport region being Texas.
NLA are redneck southerners. No similarities to SLA family.

I don't hate North La FWIW
I do.

And the grafix rides with the 10s & 12s bumping bass in the back. It is as if time passed them by. But don't worry, in another 10-15 years that will come back in style and they will look somewhat normal.
Hot ladies tho! Crazy, but hot! (Till the have kids and get all fat and whatnot)

lol wut? No one ever acts like this. If anything, we constantly fear we're going back to the baldwin days.

I don't understand the animosity between north and south Louisiana. I lived in northeast, northwest, south, and southwest Louisiana, and my wife and I have lived out of state for the last 30 years, but all our friends know we love Louisiana! It is home whether we are visiting family and friends in the south or north!

I want to join in on the fun. what you are saying is that lafayette is like mecca for douchebags?
weird that you guys always try to deflect and say that these people are from other towns. people dont gravitate to areas where they are different, they go where they fit in. The guy in the affliction shirt, white oakleys, driving an f 250, pumped full of steroids, gelled up hair, and the rhinestone emblazoned jeans definitely fits in the scene of lafayette.

South La is definitely its own thing apart from the south. I see some similarities to South eastern Texas in ways, but that's about it. New Orleans is also its own world, but not really similar to anything else outside of Charleston SC in a few small ways.
North La has a traditional southern style to it very similar to Mississippi/Arkansas/Alabama. I'm not saying that's a bad thing at all, just that it really is way different than the southern part of the state. Plenty of great people in North La, and a lot that prefer the style of it compared to South La.
Having lived in NELA, south La, and Mississippi, I can say with 100% certainity that north La is not like south La, Ms or Arkansas. It is a nice combo of them all. You can like it or hate it really doesn't matter. Who cares if ppl think of south La when they think of LA, from my experience outsiders do not have a good opion of La anyway, but even that amounts to diddly poo.
ETA: I also find it hilarious that ppl from south la thinks being cajun or coonass makes the state unique to outsiders. Nobody gives a crap. NLA>>>SLA because NLA will still be here 50 yrs.
