and was tweeting tuesday about how he was weighing 210 after eating some good BBQ
i think he's only missed once before the hughes fight where he was freaking 174 and he was busted for using a diuretic another time plus its 100% he is a juiceball
Why do people stress out over this shite so much? I swear it seems like fans and the MMA media want to crucify Rumble or Alves about their fricking weight everytime they fight, who the frick cares? They lose money, and if a title is on the line then they lose their shot at that too. Thats one thing that I've never been able to understand about this sport. Besides, watching Alves getting thrown around and picked apart because of his height and reach in the middleweight division doesn't excite me in the least.

It's because even though they miss weight they still get to fight, and, like I said before, an impressive victory can still vault you towards a title shot (re: Alves vs Hughes).
It's also just a matter of principles. Everyone else has to fast and dehydrate themselves to make weight, so you should too. In Alves' case for the Hughes fight he clearly said "frick it, I can't make weight" and didn't. This will give you an advantage not having to put your body through that just a day before the fight.

What MW strikers are going to pick him apart besides Anderson Silva? And I doubt being wrestled on by Nate Marquardt or Okami is that much tougher than trying to wrestle GSP, Fitch and Kos after having cut 40lbs.

this
You can't keep giving this guy title shots if he can't make weight. If he shows up for a title bout with GSP and doesn't make weight it's an embarrassment to the UFC.
Also how was he not able to cut an additional half a pound?

Vitor, but your point still stands.

Hector Lombard does ok at MW as a midget juiceball

Did you see the pictures of Alves yesterday? He only missed weight by half a pound, so he did put his body through hell and I guarantee you Fitch is happy to take 20% of a co main event purse for the price of half a pound. shite I think Fitch cuts just as much weight as Alves. I'm just saying, I remember cutting weight for wrestling, and if I had some fat frick reporter shoving microphones in my face and asking me why I disappointed everyone by not making weight, I would have frickin snapped. And these guys literally have to hear it from atleast 30-40 people a day when they are in public or doing media.

He has the reach of a TRex. The advantages that he has over the 170 lb division all get lost if he were to try and go up to MW, yet the only thing he stands to gain is more energy from less cutting. He stuffed all of Hughes and Koscheck's takedowns at 170, but Sonnen, Okami, and Marquardt are so much bigger and stronger than those guys at MW.

If you say so. Who are these MW strikers that would pick him apart again?

Anybody in the top 10 at MW would have a definite reach advantage, whether they are know for their strikes or not. But Wand, Bisping, Vitor, Leben, Akiyama, and Anderson could all give him problems depending on how well he would adapt... and Belcher

Me and some of the other bouncers I work with have been putting down money on 1 or 2 fights the past few pay per views when we show up for work and I've been on a roll. But I can't find one fight that I feel safe betting on. If I get 2 to 1 odds on Big Country should I take it? I could see him landing a haymaker or taking it to the ground if Dos Santos slips up but JDS has looked like a fricking monster his past few fights. Do yall see any fights I could make money on tonight?

He is probably as big or bigger than these guys now.

Bisping
Alves would shite stomp Bisping at MW.

I like JDS too much.
I'm sure you could get some good odds on Almeida from some bouncers who love Matt Hughes.

I would agree with you there but Bisping used to fight at LHW and he would be bigger than anyone Alves has fought in his career.

Bisping is probably bigger than Alves, but Alves will still wipe the mat with him.

I've thought about that because most of them just pick the names they've heard of, but Almeida is almost as old as Hughes is. Speaking of which, did you ever see Renzo kick Nate Marquardt in his head with his boot when Almeida choked him out in Japan? Someone told me about it at work last night and I just looked it up. I have never heard anything about this before. LINK

Haha, you would think that Dana would have tried to milk some kind of rivalry out of this when he got them both to sign with the UFC since neither of them can sell a fight if their lives depended on it.
I was looking for a GIF of Renzo's kick and came across this thread on MMAJunkie's forums. LINK
Its got some of the funniest and/or badass MMA photos you can find.
Just to share a few
