They also made it last year IIRC, or maybe that was some other UC school

Perhaps you're thinking of the Cal Poly juggernauts that went 13-19, won the Big West tournament, and then won their play-in game.

So is the crux of their recruiting to just bring in really tall foreigners who probably aren't that skilled in basketball?

they can tell people their arena hosted Rock 'N' Jock 20 years ago... that 25 point basket might still be in storage somewhere
