If Auburn fans had been as supportive of UAB football the last 15 years as they have been the past six months, then the program would be thriving.

I really don't see the big deal here.
1. UAB football was a money suck.
2. Officials chose to release the information in a way to minimize outcry that was unreasonable in the first place.

The problem with this logic is the administration had already decided what to do in September, but as late as November, they told donors, faculty, city leaders and the media that no decision had been made.
The reasoning was a fear the team would quit and that there would be criticism that the UA BoT was manipulating the outcome. This is not speculation, it is in the memos from the pr firm and consulting firm --- which have ties to UA BoT members who have not returned calls from Al.com regarding the matter.
Again, this is much more about the process than what happened to the team.
I find it funny, though how so many Alabama posters were adamant that none of this was true. Now that it is being revealed, the new approach is "well, no one cared anyway."
The UA BoT needs more equal representation.

Bama fans would never be scared about UAB competing with them just like LSU fans would never be scared about ull or ulm competing with them. This shite has nothing to do with the Alabama fans on this board considering it would be hard to believe any of them had any say-so in shutting down the program. They're just getting annoyed with the trolling like us LSU fans get annoyed at the arky and Texas pussy troll attempts

While I do not think Alabama ever saw UAB as a threat, do you seriously believe the UA BoT was not involved? It is just a matter of time now before it comes out.

No desire to troll Alabama. The President of the University lied to his stakeholders. UA BoT is the only entity that can fire this guy. I would think if they were not involved the choice would be clear.

Facutly voted no confidence
Alumni issued statement of no confidence
UA BoT declares full confidence
There is a disconnect here with a BoT that is supposed to care equally about all the universities in its system.

Are you really lacking the common sense to have not seen the writing on the wall that the walls were closing in on the football program at UAB? This has been a long time coming. If you paid any attention to UAB football you knew it was just a matter of time until this happened. Its sad for the kids, coaches, fans and supporters but if they didnt think this was coming sooner or later then they only kept their heads buried in the sand to the obvious.
