Just wanted to go on record as an Alabama fan that thinks what the BoT did was shady as frick and unjustified.

The vast majority of Alabama fans I know feel the same way. There is nothing wrong with being a fan or alumni and disagreeing with a particular action.

Quick update the UAB National Alumni Society unanimously voted for President Watts to be fired.

Meanwhile Alabama Chancellor Robert Witt says he fully supports the President and only a vocal few oppose him ---
A vocal few being the faculty, student body and Alumni organization.

I really don't see the big deal here.
it's not a good look for a school president to be caught in a lie.

I think Ray Watts is getting to much hate, although he did lie. He is a neurologist that's been at Harvard and Emory. Enrollment and test scores have increased in tenure and while most of us put athletics first, it's probably not his top priority.

Ray Watts, for better or worse, is the face of this debacle. I do not believe for a second he would have done this without tacit consent from at least certain members of the board. The problem is, he is head man, and ultimately he is responsible.

He said he did not attend C-USA conference in BHM because he said he would be a distraction.
He also did not attend the last graduation because it would be a distraction.
If you are such a distraction, right or wrong, it is time to move on -- especially when you are getting over 800k a year.
Let's face it, fundraising is a top priority for presidents in this day and age and his bad relations with the alumni and perceived lack of credibility will ultimately make it impossible to do his job efficiently.

My GAF meter is starting to be drained on the UAB football situation. I am from Alabama but maybe UAB needs to let it go.

Every day that goes by I believe more and more that he is just trying to get his 15 minutes of fame out of all of this.

I heard that. It was a really stupid comment to make tbh, and I think it diminishes his other valid points.

Although, at this point, you take who you can to keep the issue in the press and keep the pressure on. It is unfortunate, but he appears to be the only one publicly stepping up.
